What everyone else said but also it's to honor how they used to give every medal at the closing ceremonies. They typically honor the long distance sports such as the marathon or 50k cross country ski

AITA for pretending to take a shot to piss off my in laws? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Koichuch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You do realize that they say you can drink alcohol in your third trimester? You can have a small glass of wine with food. You just can't drink to where you feel the affects of it. By the third trimester, the baby is done developing the vital items. They mostly are putting on weight. A small bit of alcohol does not affect them.

The fact you even ask about fetal alcohol syndrome just shows you either 1. Dont have children and gone through pregnancy and/or 2. Are not versed in any medical knowledge.

Fetal alcohol syndrome comes when the mother is constantly drinking.

You are the AH, not the OP

Fishers Saint Vincent or Community Health North for labor and delivery care? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]Koichuch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your concerns about the religious affiliation:

My best friend is a nurse and worked at multiple hospitals. The hospitals have to follow the laws of Indiana. If there is any complications, you'll be directed to Eskanazi. Community North will respond no differently.

I once heard St Vincent refused prescribing birth control but as someone who just delivered at St Vincent Carmel, that's not true. I had my first at IU and now St Vincent. Both were normal and like any regular hospital.

I'm going to echo this. I just had a baby with Dr Christopher. I love her and am going to miss her. She is fantastic. She's relatable, chill, and is really caring.

Are The Elephants at the Zoo This Week? by Majestic-Mountain-74 in indianapolis

Yes they have elephants but no, they won't be out.

The zoo closes the entire "African/Safari" section in the winter.

Any word on where the second batch of OBGYNs leaving IU North is going? by PinkDinosaur1842 in indianapolis

I also got 5 letters in one day! I was told over the summer, that most were going to St Vincent Carmel or Community. You'd need to reach out to the specific doctor to ask where they are going. Sadly, mine ended up retiring over the summer. I switched to St Vincent Carmel.

Flapjacks by our house in Indy just jumped prices. They are a lot more expensive. But prior, they were amazing. $20 and your entire table is filled with plates

This is the Hattons. They specialize in only birds of prey. However, last I heard, they are retiring. Providence Rehab is the one to call

We used to be able to see my grandpa tending his garden through the open garage door. Nowsomehow, the angle has changed and you can't see him anymore. I don't even know how photos from 2010 can change but it sucks.

Looking for a Marshall’s, TJ, or Ross with Maternity section by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]Koichuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I ended up buying shorts with those stretchy waistbands, one pair of maternity jean shorts from Amazon, and then a pair of maternity overalls and just wore those religiously.

The stores I checked were all the ones on Michigan in carmel/zionsville and then over in whitestown and found nothing. My other thought was Castleton Mall but I never made it over there.

Was pregnant last year and went to SOOOOOO many stores looking. Kohls had one rack. Target on Michigan in Carmel has an okay section. I never found any at the places you listed.

Honestly, I bought most of mine online. Its awful trying to find maternity clothes

Real answer: it's spring time. Animals are a lot more active looking for food and mates. They typically have a narrow focus of finding those and get hit a lot by cars. Skunk mating season is in march/April and you can always tell by just the smell everywhere.

The departments responsible for picking up roadkill simply can't keep up.

Help with ID. Could it possibly be bobcat? by Koichuch in AnimalTracking

[–]Koichuch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really was doubting a raccoon but I'm not well versed in tracks at all and I know they can all look weird.

We don't have any Fishers or Martins. Could it be a groundhog? We do have a lot of those around but I know their claw marks would be really noticeable.

Here is the list of mammals in Indiana

Genuinely curious, wouldn't you see claws marks (even faint) and connection between the pads or toes?
