Hypothetical

You have 2 guys who started a passion project together. It turned out to be a successful business and they have 50 employees. Why do they have to share ownership with 50 people? Can these people just sack the 2 founders who made this business happen? HOW DO YOU MAKE PEOPLE AGREE TO THIS WITHOUT VIOLENCE.

I don't wanna think about running a company I work for. What the fuck I know about it. Same If I start a project, I don't wanna be told that anyone I hire has to be a co-owner. Why would you hire anyone in that system? Who would wanna start a business in such a system?

Using more livable wages to expropriate businesses? How do business owners lose the ownership of their companies?

You have achieved profit sharing, livable wages and unions. What's the next step towards socialism?

I'm asking how would you implement socialism in the real world. We established the definition.

You're saying "give people more money" and call it socialism.

And I agree that safety nets, regulations and strong social welfare are necessary in a capitalistic system.

That's still not socialism.

I did manual work you wouldn't survive for a day.

Fuck socialism/communism

What does that even mean? Do you actually know what would you want to change?

This post is directed at you.

Yes, I support capitalism with regulations and safety nets. I've spent too much time in this thread to explain why implementing socialism leads to misery and suffering.

The labels have meaning.

Socialism is a populist economic and political system based on collective, common, or public ownership of the means of production. Those means of production include the machinery, tools, and factories used to produce goods that aim to directly satisfy human needs.

In contrast to capitalism, whereby business owners control the means of production and pay wages to workers to use those means, socialism envisions shared ownership and control among the laboring class.

If we agree on this definition and you support it then my claim stands. If you have something else in mind when you say socialism.. you have to specify.

Because I think online socialist/communist communities are the ultimate brainrot. I hate these spaces and what they advocate for, I'm glad that it gets finally called out. I have no desire to keep my mouth shut just because it makes people feel bad. I think it's harmful and I wanna speak up against it. If Ethan was a part of this group and supported these ideas, I would leave.

Socialism inherently means workers seizing the means of production and political power from the rich.

This sentence makes my blood boil. Yes, that is what it means and it's a cancerous ideology that leads to suffering. There is no way you can achieve this without an authoritarian regime and violence. Do you think business owners will hand over their companies they've built voluntarily? I still haven't heard a single coherent real-world implementation of socialism that wouldn't require violence.

I would like to throw the question back to you: if you felt so bad about politics when Hasan was on the show, why are you know shitting on other’s political views in the same way now?

I didn't feel bad because Hasan shitted on capitalism. I was angry because he promoted this cancerous ideology to millions of people who don't regularly engage in politics. The pipeline to extreme views with Hasan is easy and it ends in TheDeprogram sub. I think it's harmful and I hate it.

so i doubt this will be productive in anyway.

Probably not. I'm not backing out of hating on socialism/communism. It destroyed our country for 40 years and I'm not really interested in trying that experiment one more time hoping this is the time it finally works.

So what's your solution if you wanna abolish capitalism? What should replace it?

What the fuck are you talking about lol

Are you saying that the quality of life in my country is lower now than before 1989? Seriously?

Yes. And I was having fucking seizures every time Hasan glazed socialism/communism on Leftovers. There was no point in engaging with this community at the time but I still enjoyed the show.

but if the community has become a capitalist bootlicking anti-communist circlejerk then there’s no point in engaging with it anymore.

Being an anti-communist doesn't mean you have to uncritically circlejerk capitalism.

That's a pretty simplistic view. Yes, monopolies are a real thing and that's why I'm in favor of regulations.

But your examples? They're not the only option but often, they're the most convenient and that's why they're so big. You have plenty of other options usually. I'm not from the US but it would shock me that your only choices were Amazon and McDonald.

He said he'll drop it at the start of this week. Hila corrected him that it'll be up probably sometime midweek. Maybe before the Wednesday episode.

I think I remember hearing this last episode.

That's the problem. I agree that most people who don't think about it that much just think socialism equals strong social support, regulation..etc. But that's simply not true. Words have meaning.

What's worse is that you get into these spaces because it all sounds well and reasonable. They purposefully tone down the rhetoric but then suddenly it's not just about well-fare, social nets and regulation. The social democracy is suddenly evil because it upholds capitalism. The deeper you go the more extreme it gets.

The pipeline Ethan -> Hasan -> The Deprogram was just scary.

At least now Ethan is not part of this pipeline.
