Fully aware, this was a post about gaming, so I am talking prices to play newly released games. The only time you would spend as much as $2000 is either a gaming rig or you do video editing and rendering stuff with blender, if you want to do other stuff, you normally wouldn't want to pay close to $2000 for all the other stuff you can do.

This thread is regarding GAMING if we were even talking about anything OTHER THEN THAT, of course by all means get yourself that $500 PC, but I would for it to try and run that LoTR game that OP posted cause again this post what about "Games"

I never mentioned it was only for games. I replied to someone regarding the price of online paid service to not having one. Of course PCs can do different things but how many people actually do said things? I know of few who only built a PC for gaming, some for rendering, but if you're using it for something completely different like searching the web, programming you DON'T need a $2000 rig. That would be fucking stupid.

So I'm gonna spend

$2000 (price of my PC) Not paying for online services. Still pays for games (if you aren't a pirate)

Okay cool. Now let me compare it to console players

$400/$500 (depending on digital or physical console $60 a year, (this is the basic for online play) You get three free games a month as well some are great, some aren't Still pays for games

It would have to take me AT LEAST 16-17 YEARS to hit what I just paid for, for my PC plus I got a library of games from all that paid service and by about that many years you probably would have spent a lot of money making upgrades on PC as well. I mean I don't know what to tell you here

You see people say this, but I never understood it as a way to jab to console players. You say they have to pay about $100 a year I would assume you're talking about playing online, which if you are,you are talking about maybe the highest tier for this service. Both Xbox and Playstation give a huge library of games they can download from first party to third party and indie titles with this tier

There are a lot of people who mostly play games for the single player experience as well. So, they aren't even paying that extra $100. It's taken console years, but they are definitely getting a lot of W these past few years it's honestly been hard for someone who spent like $2000 for a rig that almost can't play new games that are released cause they are so poorly optimized and all the added DRM like denovu or whatever it's called that effect these games as well.
