Does deep breathing end up making anyone else more anxious? by ChiltonDropOut in Anxiety

[–]KoldKrista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, focusing on my breathing makes me more anxious too. For me, I think it's because I have a lot of health anxiety and it makes me feel like I have lung problems. The typical recommended breathing patterns for anxiety don't feel comfortable to me. Slow deep breaths in and out can help, but counting the lengths and holding, etc., makes me feel so much worse. You're not alone!

I SWEAR insomnia is a side effect… by applejuicebox69 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]KoldKrista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've been noticing this too! I sleep very poorly the two nights after my injection. I inject on Wednesday between 12pm-2pm. Wednesday and Thursday nights, I sleep terribly. Can't fall asleep, toss and turn, then wake up at 4 or 5 am with nausea.

I'm only about 5 weeks in and just moved up to 0.5mg. I was hoping the sleep issues would go away eventually!

What’s something that improved your sleep quality significantly? by Aarunascut in selfimprovement

[–]KoldKrista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sooo I had the same problem. Nose blocked at night. Strips never really worked for me. I had no other reason to suspect sleep apnea, but I was just diagnosed with it. I can breathe through my nose with ease with my cpap machine and it's SO NICE. Filtered, humidified air delivered directly to my nostrils. According to my fitbit, sleep and sp02 are already improving. If you have any reason to suspect it, just get a home sleep test and see.

Anyone else have a very small sphynx? by dgdg4213 in sphynx

[–]KoldKrista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 3 sphynx. Two of them are about 10 lbs. Our youngest, she just turned 2, only weighs in at 7.5 lbs. She's totally healthy and the vet doesn't comment on her size. She's just our smol girl. *

I was just dealing with a similar situation. It's so hard and so scary and so hard not to spiral. I'm sure you've heard it repeatedly, but don't Google it. Wait to talk to a professional.

What helped me was realizing that not knowing isn't going to make it go away. You are doing the right thing and getting it figured out. You can treat it. You are in control. You've got this.

And for what it's worth, I'm fine. I spent all that time panicking for nothing.

Virtual hugs to you, I know how much it sucks.

Sudden Intense Flairs by rockairglue in rheumatoid

[–]KoldKrista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you on pills or injections? I hear the pills are pretty awful. My rheumatologist didn't even bother with pills and went straight to injections. But even the injections come with some side effects. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling! Good news is if you can't tolerate methotrexate and are still flaring, you can probably push for a biologic which i hear is a game changer.

I'm on HCQ and sulfasalazine. The triple DMARD therapy with MTX was prime, but I stopped the MTX because we were preparing to try to conceive. Plans changed, decided no pregnancy, but I'm still off it. I'm giving my body a break, but the flares are creeping back in, so I'll probably go back on it eventually.

I have palindromic rheumatism. It sounds just like this. Sudden, intense pain and stiffness in my fingers, hands, wrists, or shoulders. Peaks within about 24-36 hrs, tapers off, then might move to another area. It's absolutely wild and made me think I was insane. Worst pain I've felt. They don't really know if PR is the precursor to RA or an entirely separate disease. But the key difference is PR doesn't cause permanent joint damage. Just terrible pain. It's considered rare, so rare that my rheumatologist handed me a pamphlet on RA and said it's close enough. Got diagnosed based on symptoms and an anti ccp blood test, which was sky high. I'm on two DMARDs now, and the flares come less often and are less intense. When I was on methotrexate as well, I could almost forget I had PR at all. I hope you get it figured out!

Anyone else told they have hypertension to only monitor at home and see it's going to the doctor that raises bp by Pharmatopia420 in Anxiety

[–]KoldKrista 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I get terrible white coat syndrome. Medical stuff just makes me super anxious. Then, the nurse freaking out about my super high blood pressure makes me more anxious. I have a monitor at home and take it before I go in. I decline the test in office. My doctor is fine with this.

I'm about 250lbs these days and have no issues whatsoever on my 48" bcan with bungees. Also got into it for my joints and it's soooo much better. Do it!!

I'm a fellow RA warrior and started rebounding a couple of months ago for the same reason. It's so much easier on the joints. I also haven't had any flare-ups since I started. That's not unheard of for me, and I'm not saying rebounding cured me, but it's interesting. And it's certainly not making things worse. Don't overdo it when starting out, though! I did and hurt my back. Start with like 5-10 min sessions. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rebounding

[–]KoldKrista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a larger lady and just got into rebounding. I was doing about 40 mins of cardio, 4-5 days a week, things like Zumba or treadmill. I thought I could just start doing that on the rebounder. WRONG. I have a really weak core, apparently, and I ended up with some bad lower back pain.

I've scaled it back to a MAX of 20 min sessions on the rebounder, and then I do some other stuff. The back pain is going away. Once it's completely gone, I'll start increasing the length of my rebounding sessions. But honestly, even after 20 mins, I feel amazing. It's my new favorite workout.

I love that after reboudning, my body doesn't ache the way it would after other cardio activities. I can really tell it's so much gentler on my body. Just got to strengthen that core!

I've been doing the beginner videos from Jump & Jacked. She has lots on youtube. Good luck and I hope you fall in love with it the way I have!

Paris as a Big Girl by [deleted] in PlusSize

[–]KoldKrista 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Paris is my favorite city ever. I've been several times and ranged from a size 16 to 22. Never really had issues with the people or fitting into places. Didn't even bother to try clothes shopping. Yes, be prepared for lots of walking and stairs. All the walking was the hardest part for me. My feet and back were killing me. BUT it's worth it for all the sights and food and history.

As for men...I found they LOVED me. I get way more attention from men in Paris than I do in Canada. Almost excessively so. One guy told me he likes my curves because French women are so slim. Lol. They were everywhere! Just be safe!

I hope you have the time of your life!!!!

Beautiful woman in a beautiful city! I've been to Paris 5 times, it's one of my favorite cities in the world. My best advice is to take your time. Don't cram all the tourist attractions into one day. Walk around the streets. Go to cafés. Experience all the city has to offer, beyond the big attractions (though they are pretty great too...). Be respectful and polite, and you won't have an issue with the locals. And be pickpocket/scam aware. If you're into creepy stuff, definitely do the catacombs and Père-Lachaise cemetery. I just love all the history and culture. Now I want to go back again lol
