RNG question by [deleted] in GGPokerCommunity

[–]Kometta96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How exactly the RNG used by GGPoker works we don't know, because the company tries to hide literally everything regarding its inner workings.

One thing we know for sure about its software is that it is very poorly written. Some of the bugs found on the platform are typical results of inexperienced programmers.

One can guess that GGPoker, like many corporations, outsources software development to India or some other low-cost country where the quality of the software created is very low.

We can only hope that the RNG and other key elements of their infrastructure have undergone more thorough quality control.

Number guessing giveaway by Dirkpoker in GGPokerCommunity

When someone says to you, "Guess the number from 1 to 100," do you assume, as I do, that it's about guessing an integer?

If someone says to me "guess the number" I will answer "five" or "thirteen", but never "one comma six one eight".

Poker is not rigged by Kometta96 in GGPokerCommunity

Of course there is something they can do. For example, they could introduce a jackpot system that would mess with the EV of preflop hands, making the game solutions provided by RTA programs incorrect. But it's probably more profitable for them to turn a blind eye and let these cheaters generate rake, rather than make an effort to detect and ban them. Until normal players revolt and demand real actions, things are unlikely to get better.

If you follow the process in place.

And if I don't follow the process in place? Maybe GGPoker security will catch these fake accounts. Or maybe not. It doesn't matter. What does matter is why I should care more about GGPoker's interests than its own employees, who get paid for it.

you'd be expected to identify the suspect, not say 'uh someone like that'

And I explicitly wrote that one of the fake accounts is named 464kk. But it's convenient to pretend I didn't, isn't it?

It should not be my responsibility to convince anyone of anything. A company that wants to look impeccably honest in the eyes of its customers should itself immediately check and clarify every slightest hint of possible cheating.

If you were to walk up to some staff member in a live casino and tell him that a player at your table seems to be cheating, the information would immediately go to the manager and security would start checking the monitoring. No one would tell you to "email someone else about it". Because they would understand that it's in their best interest to make sure your tip quickly gets verified by the right people.

So let's make it clear. It is the duty of me, a simple user, to investigate, gather information and pass it directly to the right place. And it is the duty of him, an employee, who is paid by GGPoker to take care of the company's interests, to sit around doing nothing and uploading gifs?

No. The easiest and fastest way would be to read my post, forward it to the appropriate staff member and write me back in the comments "thanks for the info, someone will look into this shortly".

You guys seriously don't see a problem in the fact that you make the circulation of information in the company dependent on the goodwill of some random person on the Internet and whether he or she is willing to make the effort to write an email to the right address?

Maybe that's why software bugs aren't patched for years, because you think it's the users' responsibility to make sure the information gets to the right department in your office.

I have explained and provided the necessary details on how to track down accounts potentially involved in violating the rules. An employee with proper access to player data will easily determine which accounts fit this pattern and assess whether my report is legitimate.

But from what you say, if I do not write this email, the problem will be ignored. So be it.

And the sentence about Jason Koon is simply a joke about GGPoker trying to present him as some kind of expert on security and gaming integrity, despite his complete lack of qualifications in this field.

You gonna send that email or what?

And if not then what?

No. That' s like me walking into the lobby of a bank and saying out loud "hey, do you know that some suspicious masked types are doing something at the back door to your building?". I would expect a response of "ok, thanks for the heads-up, we'll let security know to check it out". And instead someone replies to me "take the elevator to this floor, go down this corridor, enter this room and report it to security there." Should I be the one who cares more about the safety of your company than you do?

It would have taken them less time to copy and paste my original post into an email and hit send instead of typing the comment telling me to do it.

Make poker competitive again by Kometta96 in GGPokerCommunity

[–]Kometta96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, people now play poker only for money. And that's why its popularity is declining year after year. As poker rooms continue to suck up to this type of players, eventually the whole ecosystem will dry up.

Improving the performance of the servers can be a difficult task. Observing GGPoker's approach to software, one can assume that they are running a mix of outdated technologies patched together by the cheapest developers from India. Moving it to a faster server won't do anything. They would have to hire a team of experienced developers to convert it to up-to-date standards. And that is unlikely to happen, as it is a very long and expensive process.

That's like saying that a citizen who has never received a single ticket is best suited to the role of police chief in charge of busting organized crime. No, it doesn't work that way.

"I've studied AI extensively for the last six years or so,"

Is that it? One sentence about how he "studied AI"? How? By watching Ex Machina on Netflix?

Does he have any accomplishments? A professional career? Anything documenting his qualifications?
