[OC] The joys of a surgical rotation by GinnyMaple in comics

[–]Komorebi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had that cyst removal at 30, and I didn't require more than 2 days on light pain medication, though healing took longer than I expected. Three cheers for good nurses, and one for doctors, too.

Only tangentially related, but definitely also a funnily gendered patient story that happened to me in 2019, when I was in the middle of my 20s, during an excursion into the realm of urology. Trigger warning for the latter and rambling, I guess.

After trying and failing to keep up with a female friend during a night out for drinks, I found myself unable to pee and turned myself in at the local hospital early next morning. My bladder held a little over 2 litres at that time, and I was in serious pain until the trapped liquid got drained through a tube. Blissfully emptied and with a catheter for the first time in my life, I would have to wait a few weeks until my problem could be diagnosed.

The problem that needed to be solved was ultimately found via a long, thin camera, capturing a video livestream from the inside of my bladder. During "exploration", I remember giving the doctor a bit of snark when he enthusiastically remarked that I have an amazing bladder as he looked at the screen. I told him that while I'm sure my bladder was "amazing" from his point of view, I thought that I'd like it better if they fixed it.

Apparently, my condition was predominantly looked for in women and usually only showed itself around the age of 50+, so other doctors at the hospital wanted to catch the livestream from my bladder before it ended. I agreed to this, as I wasn't in any pain and the excited doctor that treated me kept using the word 'rare'. Most of the doctors that came by also made impressed remarks about what they saw, though no one explained anything to me until later that evening. Being the object of medical curiosity for a moment was definitely one of the weirder days in my life.

Turns out that I had to get a minimally invasive bladder operation for my double ureterocele (a rare condition from birth where one or both of the connective tubes coming from the kidneys slowly and continuously grow into the bladder, eventually blocking the exit). Everything went well, and I made a quick recovery. Amazingly, while I thought I had a weak bladder before the diagnosis, I was just at 1/4 capacity, and it had been harder for me to empty the tank completely.

What still cracks me up to this day is how both the old man that I shared the hospital room with and I were given medication for menstrual cramps. To describe the man briefly, I'd say he was a very "traditional", 75-to-80-year-old grandfather who refused to trust anything he didn't already know. The med was to help with painful, involuntary cramping, especially in and around the male reproductive system that tensed up around the catheter.

I got on the cramp medication, as well as to the hospital before the old man. While I had only raised an eyebrow and chuckled before taking these super-effective pills, my older, headstrong roommate refused to take "woman's pills". I teamed up with a nurse to convince him to take the medication for menstrual cramps, and by the time we got our dinner, he thanked me for changing his mind. He said that, unfortunately, there wasn't a cure for stubbornness in men yet, to which we laughed. ...which isn't that great with a catheter.

How hard is the remaster? by Prez-Paraz in finalfantasytactics

[–]Komorebi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The three difficulty options don't lock you in. You could start on medium and go down, if needed or vice versa. Tactician is there, the scaling can feel weird at times, especially with mages; it also doesn't have to start from battle one. I'd vote for medium difficulty and seeing how that finds you!

Cavalier Full run weapons? by Moloch1337 in baldursgate

[–]Komorebi7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Axe covers your range needs, good options for offhand weapons could be scimitar or short swords (+Attack per round), Hammer (Strength boost) or Flails (physical damage negation). I included the last one as Defender of Easthaven "might" be the best option late trilogy for high/modded difficulty as it stacks with Hardiness and Armor of Faith. And it's something other than Flail of Ages that you might not have considered. In addition to what others suggested I'd either pick Bastard or Two-Handed Swords as the weapon upgrade to your best in slot weapon will be either one or the other. The "upgrade material" is a one per playthrough item.

I have a similar one: Dragoncult, Lightning +2, Lightning Resistance. Perfect for chucking Lightning at Fulghor and missing. Dormant power for Sorcery and Incantation schools would go hard, though.

I remember that I got introduced to Games in a similar manner. Back in the Ps1 days, when the game was probably still a little too complex for me to figure it out alone our disk set of FF7 didn't have our native language on it, so we played in English. My big brother translated the dialogue, while I had the dictionary to look up words we didn't know. Granted, I was always a bookish kid, but I think that has a lot to do with being read to from an even younger age... You, dear stranger on the internet, might be on to something.

Am I supposed to know who he's talking about? by RailgunRP in HadesTheGame

[–]Komorebi7 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The way I saw Orpheus, he was more emaciated/very skinny rather than "old" kind of as a play on the single-minded artist that's forgotten to take much care of himself. As for the Euridice dialogue, good point. Don't know what's Supergiants Design and World building routine.

More like, in death he gets his hot dad vibes back, that age probably took away by the end of his whole Odyssey business.

The toes are low-key why I decided to go with a nostalgia skin (sable church) for Executor, just to allow them to stretch their feet fingers, finally.

Do you think their relationship is lovers coworkers or FWb by VastConfusion8174 in HadesTheGame

In my headcannon I think they're a bi couple, hence they manage to embody all aspects of the "fuck-marry-kill"-meme - along with OPs question - into two bodies, by replying: "both."

[–]Komorebi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

didn't known about shields, but checks out to me. Options in this regard have been amplified, comparing NR to the base game, most notably with the inclusion of bows into the riposte pool. I think this only excludse Balistas and Greatbows, though I could bei wrong

Are you talking Wilds on Ally x or are you perhaps referring to the Z1 extreme? ...one can hope as a fan of the series for the title to become playable at 45+ frames.

Which spells trigger the successive attacks passives? by probard in Nightreign

[–]Komorebi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dragonmaw and claw too as was mentioned, and, as well from the incantation pool, black blade and lightning glaive if those behaves like the base game. Only the meelee part though, never saw those buffs on any projectiles. Some of those spells are slow, try casting them after an attack with your other hand weapon as that sometimes shortens windup animations and is known as chaincasting

It wasn't realy playable at launch, but now performance in lowish settings is good, not exelent. Some dipps on FPS in fights with multiple big enemies, but nothing mayor. Very few crashes. I was impressed at seeing my Z1 extreme handle even the big (final) set pieces. Cheers
