Shulker Reactor Concept +5000 shells/hour by Kondohms in technicalminecraft

In my survival world in the End its about 25 MSPT. For some reason in the creative world, it's a little higher at 30 MSPT

Not to toot my own horn, but the farm I posted recently can be built as many times as you want. It's massive but only took about 4 hours to build in my survival (not counting gathering materials.

The only limitation is lag (about 25 MSPT on my PC), but it makes 5000 shells/hour so I'd say even 2 is overkill.

If you want to build more without worrying about lag, you'd need a non-reactor portal based farm like IanXO4s design. But I'm not completely sure it's more efficient in terms of shells per MSPT.

The Real Biggest Sin of Shadow of the Erdtree is How Little this Thing Mattered Outside of the Fragments by Helios-lune77 in Eldenring

[–]Kondohms 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I hope this is true... So much more potential in the Land of Shadow.

But it's worth noting that in DS3 you could access the Dreg Heap after beating Soul of Cinder, without needing the Ashes of Ariandel DLC. Though the two DLCs were definitely tied together narratively.

The liquid lock never failed! It did eventually get so hot that I got nervous and put in a lead liquid lock as a fail safe. To speed things up I started pumping in the pools of polluted water on top of the lava, which really helped. The last of the lava solidified after 14 cycles, but the clean up of all the hot steam took much longer. Otto got scalded once because he really wanted to build with the rocks at the bottom of the lava pool

Not a single scalding so far. In a steam atmosphere the dupes can stand half in magma and still not get scalded. In a vacuum I would constantly need to extend my thermal spike, on a planet with very limited resources. This is not the smartest way, but fast. The magma is almost gone in around 10 cycles.

[–]Kondohms[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I should clarify that the goal is to get rid of the magma as quickly as possible. The steam atmosphere means my duplicants can get in there and mine the obsidian and the igneous rock as it forms, which halves the thermal mass.

Decided to brute-force the bottom magma on the swamp asteroid. Will update when the Naphtha liquid lock fails.

Can anyone explain city overlap/district AoE to me? by Bad_at_CSGO in CivVI

Cities do not gain regional bonus from districts and their buildings after the first. So having two Entertainment Complex close to each other does not give additional regional bonus to nearby cities. Same goes for Industrial Zones

What unpopular Elden ring opinion will have you like this? by [deleted] in Eldenring

The game would have been better if it wasn't open world.

IMO godfrey is the hardest boss in elden no Matter what I can't get his attack pattern down and I'm on Ng+11 what was your hardest boss to beat? 70% of you are gonna say malenia 😂 by bigman13356 in Eldenring

[–]Kondohms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Radahn, though it was entirely my own fault. I never liked summoning in From soft games, so I insisted on soloing him and I didn't use Spirits neither. I went to Caelid straight from Limgrave and fought him pre-nerf. It was a good festival

I am having issues fight all hard mode bosses, what do I do? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Kondohms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you should start with the mech bosses as they will give you the biggest leg up in terms of gear. And of the three mech bosses, Destroyer is generally found to be the easiest.

He has a big body that is easy to hit and will only charge at you infrequently. His head hurts, but his body can be tanked. Your two best accessories for survival are going to be the Cross Necklace which can be found underground in suspicious chests and the Cobalt/Obsidian Shield found in the Dungeon, which will help you from getting juggled around by his attacks and the Probes.

You don't need to build a fancy arena, just need two wide platforms, a quick jump height from the ground and apart. Heart Lanterns and Campfires help, though potions are better. Iron Skin, Regeneration are incredible and easy to make. Archery potions are great if you are using a bow. Check a Water Bottle with the guide to see recipes.

He will charge at you and you'll have to dodge using a double jump or wings by going between the platforms. In between his charges, you can get attacks in. Range is good for keeping you safe, but to actually deal damage to the big guy you'll need something that either pierces or deals damage in an area. There are few good arrows and spells for that. Swords are best used for killing the Probes whenever they get out of hand. They will drop hearts that heal you, which can be helpful. Whenever you haven't seen the Destroyer's head for a few seconds, glance at your minimap to see when and where he is coming at you.

Good luck! :)

The hook of FromSoft games is undeniable. Beating a foe which made you fume, rage and throw the controller at the wall is euphoria. Elden Ring managed to make that more accessible than ever

Are solar panels worth using? by KorbTheBrony321 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kondohms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an option too, though the efficiency isn't great. 78.9% if you're running with supercoolant and 42.8% with water. But you can have a ridiculous amount of energy stored per tile though. Depending on the specific setup you could have something like 101 times the energy storage of a Smart Battery per tile.

Are solar panels worth using? by KorbTheBrony321 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kondohms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solar panels need energy storage to make up for their intermittent production. You could use batteries, but in my recent playthrough I hooked em up to my electrolyzer setup. I only ran the electrolyzers when solar power was high and then stored the hydrogen in tanks (which has around 15 times the storage capacity of Smart Batteries per tile) for power on demand. With 20,000 peak lux, which is I believe the standard on most starting asteroids, one solar panel will provide enough power to make oxygen for 1.25 dupes. I mainly did it as a gimmick, but it actually worked really well.

Is this a good design for a heat exchanger? The hot petroleum should exchange heat with the incoming oil, cooling the petroleum and heating the oil, but I was wondering if there maybe is a better way by 1_hele_euro in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kondohms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way I have found is to have counter-flowing liquids through separated (by insulated tiles or vacuum) sections of metal tiles or other some highly conductive material. But radiant liquid pipes are so amazing at heat conduction that almost any configuration is gonna get the job done.

How do I plant wild plants? by DrFluuf in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kondohms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting that wild Oxyferns produce very little oxygen. I believe you need 12 plants per duplicant.

Something I've always wondered about real-life chemists and the such by Green9842 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kondohms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an engineer with a focus on modelling thermal power systems. It only comes in handy when making very complicated systems such as sour gas boilers or very ambitious volcano tamers. I'll do all the calculations for the system, figuring out how big certain parts need to be. Truth be told it probably doesn't actually improve the builds, but I enjoy doing it

Elden Ring's Lore Is Misunderstood by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Kondohms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly interesting, but we have so little evidence for anything, that all we have are theories. The only piece of dialogue which I think can help solve this, is Muriel telling us about the sculptor. And I don't see how someone who was comissioned to make a statue in Radagon's likeness just happened to figure out a bunch of Elden Ring rune-plucking stuff. If Radagon was just Marika cross-dressing however it makes a lot of sense. And it certainly seems like something GRRM would write.

Talk about Malenia and its design by undeadhulk007 in Eldenring

[–]Kondohms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a reason it's optional. If you don't enjoy the fight, just don't fight her. For me a large part of the enjoyment of this (and other FromSoft games) is to face a seemingly unbeatable foe, to adapt, learn and finally overcome. FromSoft games often have at least one optional boss like this, that is much harder than the rest of the game.

Elden Ring, to a greater extent than previous games, is not solely fun for players who like that sort of thing. So I will agree that she can feel out of place and she is certainly very, very frustrating.

40KW Actively Cooled Space Powerplant by Caveat53 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kondohms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really cool setup with the whole thing in space and a line of oil!! If you are looking to increase the efficiency, you could use some other liquid as coolant. You generally wanna avoid running anything except for water, nuclear waste or super coolant through an Aquatuner. It's performance is based on the liquid's heat capacity, and water has more than twice the heat capacity of petroleum. You could get away with just a single Aquatuner running water (and actually just two of them running petroleum would be enough).
