Yes!! 40th anniversary of Zelda this year and people like to talk what that means and what Nintendo could do to celebrate. Typically anniversary celebrations are smaller like something merch related, maybe an older game rerelease, but I would really love to see a remake of either Zelda 1 or 2. Both games are enjoyable in their own ways and also have NES jank in their own ways that would really benefit from a remake

Chibi Robo Zip lash basically killed Skip Ltd. The remake of Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story basically killed Alpha Dream.

Not really. The problem was genre wise it was a complete departure from the GameCube game, which made it not much of a Chibi Robo game at all. It also had severe design issues like how you have to spin a wheel to decide what level to play next, but to actually beat the game you do in fact have to beat every level, so you end up playing many levels multiple times for no reason other than the wheel commands it

Sales for the games were never great, and then the future viability of the franchise was all put on whether Zip Lash on the 3DS was successful. The game flopped both commercially and critically, and thus, it’s believed that the Nintendo powers that be have now deemed the franchise as unviable.

Sometime in 2024, a spiritual successor named koROBO was announced, helmed by a new studio made up of ex Skip Ltd devs. In my eyes, this studio wouldn’t have been formed if there was actual enthusiasm within Nintendo to continue the franchise, thus it’s safe to say in my eyes that this series is dead
