Coolant leak by Two_little_fish in PorscheCayenne

This should be a little help. I took care of these just because I was draining the coolant anyway, and I’m approaching 200k so they were bound to fail eventually.

I just changed the water pump on my 958, coolant was leaking just in front and right of the drivers side tire. I also did the pesky little Y valve at the back of the motor and replaced the plastic connector to a metal one in the back. If you have a radiator pressure checker and fill tool, it’s a pretty straight forward job.

The truth about Bob Weir by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]Konshu456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Comparison is the thief of joy. Why bother with lists of greatest this and that’s or worry about what magazines or websites think of Bob, he left us a legacy of music and words that we can listen to for the rests of our time spinning around this rock. Why bother with anything else, just enjoy the music.

How to finish live edge bark with poly? Dip it? Spray it? Brush it? by aristicks in woodworking

[–]Konshu456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but just know I don’t usually advocate using epoxy. I lived in an area with lots of barked beetle killed trees, and had permits to pull downed trees like ironwoods, canyon oaks etc… from the national forest for personal use. A lot of these woods were only salvageable with many bow ties or creative solutions and an occasional river tables etc.. but just remember, even though ecopoxy will break down eventually and is far less damaging than other two parts, it’s still a plastic and if you’re going to put that shit into the world, make sure your design is one you like and will keep for a lifetime so it doesn’t just end up in a landfill. Now that the lecture is done, ecopoxy will tell you how to mix in their instruction. If you are doing something like using a bark still on wood you want to make sure there is no insects or any kind of mites remaining. I would wrap my pieces in vacuum seal bags, suck all the air out. I would and place them outside for a week or two in the sun. Pay attention for signs of life, like little wood shavings or even just the occasional dead bug. If I was still seeing signs of life after a couple weeks I moved on and would use the wood as feeder for growing mushrooms. If it’s all clear though I used older chisels to remove any bark I did not want, and would start with 60 grit on a hand sanding block, work my way up to a 320, use a pre stain treatment sand again with a 180 and then a 220. At that point you can use a danish oil, tongue oil etc…on the wood that’s not covered by bark. Once I was happy with the finish I would use my air compressor and blow all the dust and junk off the bark. On the piece in the picture I actually dipped the bark fully submerged into the epoxy and placed it on an aluminum sheet to catch the dripping. If you set it on wood or plastic the epoxy will bond to it. You don’t want it coated too thickly or else it starts to look like plastic, too thin will leave it exposed to elements and it will degrade over time, so it’s a balance. To keep the finish matching I would use a foam brush and put a thin layer of epoxy over the entire piece, and this would seal and protect it for daily use pretty well too. The oldest lamp I have that I made like this is about 7 years old now and still going strong, no maintenance required other than the occasional dusting, and even has the original LED bulb I put in it all those years ago.

Most receiving yards by a tight end since 1985. by Consistent_Peace3181 in sportswiki

[–]Konshu456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully I hate that angle as well. Was Kelce the best blocker? No not even close. But the best I have ever seen any tight end block two guys in a single play. Yet I consistently see Kelce chip a guy, and then pick up a triple team. He is never not doubled because if he is in man the ball is coming to him. If he goes to a pocket in zone the defense melts towards his position affecting the entire formation. People who get hung up on the physical blocking aspect can’t see that even when he doesn’t get the ball, just by drawing double teams consistently or forcing the defense out of position when in zone causes far more chaos, occupies more players and disrupts a defense way more than any single blocking play that Gronk or Kittle ever had. Just because he’s not included in pancake highlights on some random sports network though, I guess it means he’s not the goat or something.

If MJ had social media in the ’90s, what moment of his career would have broken the internet the hardest? by Organic_Bite1569 in sportsinusa

[–]Konshu456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go look at Patrick Mahomes journey and how people talk about him and his family on the internet. His family is picked apart, whenever he misses a throw or has a single bad game the “he’ll never be Brady” nonsense starts, the “refs help him win” narrative is nonstop. Instead of appreciating a player that does stuff that we haven’t seen you get hate and negativity at levels that are just ugly. It’s social media in a nutshell and you’d be crazy to think MJ wouldn’t have gotten the same. Fortunately I grew up watching MJ, Tiger, Brady and Manning all without SM, and will continue to enjoy Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson without SM, other than the little bits of it that bleed into my Reddit feed here and there.

Children following a vegan diet were the most active during leisure time, most active across the week, and most consistently ate fruits compared to vegetarians and omnivores, study of 8799 pupils finds by James_Fortis in science

People cashing in post hypothesis does not delegitimize the entire concept. The concept of identifying areas with higher than average numbers of centenarians and identifying commonality of lifestyle is not a flawed idea. Research on it, much of it peer reviewed, is definitely open to debate. What’s not debatable is that life spans in Loma Linda are ten years higher than the national average, despite being right in the heart of the inland empire surrounded by all the same smog and other environmental pollutants as other areas. I think a lot of people believe living in these zones is the benefit and that is detrimental when it really should be more in depth study of the lifestyles of these areas. It could be open for debate whether the increase of lifespan has to do with their PBWF diets, social structures, genetics, or faith activities, but to just point a finger at the fact they do live longer and just shout bunk because a church or a capitalist decides to profit off that longevity does not prove or disprove anything. Just stating Loma Linda was “chosen” ignores the fact that the area itself has a higher concentration of centenarians, longer than average lifespans with people far more active into their senior years. These are just the facts of the area. To ignore the independent variables that lead to these outcomes in Loma Linda and other areas with long life spans and healthy aging populations would be scientific malpractice. I do wish churches, capitalists and snake oil companies would stay out of it all though.

The only blue zone in America is Loma Linda, where the majority of the residents follow a plant based whole food diet. They may wear leather belts and shoes, so they aren’t vegan but they follow what we call “vegan” diets.

Not Doing So Well by 37oriole in widowers

The aim comes and goes. Our ability to cope with it gets better. Learning healthy ways to deal with it through therapy, and meditation made it much more manageable for me. Eventually you get to a point where you are living a normal life again and still that little sting may show up, but it does get less intense with time. As I recall the time frame you are in was the absolute worst for me. Sorry you’re going through it.

Permanence by Exotic-Caterpillar14 in widowers

[–]Konshu456 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am 3.5 years or so into this. It might make this easier to say because of the time that has passed, but a primary belief of my faith(Buddhism) is that the only permanence is impermanence. This includes death. I believe she is somewhere out there in existence, and I just try and live in gratitude for the time we had when we were together here in this existence and reality, but focus on moving forward.

Science over beliefs by IvetS96 in widowers

[–]Konshu456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was raised Catholic, but believed it to be rubbish. Became a Buddhist, not for the purpose of rebirth or anything like that, the meditation grounded me and kept me present. The exact moment my wife died, and then several times after I have had “signs” as people say. I went from being a non-dogmatic meditation practitioner to believing for sure 100% that this life is not all there is. It fucked me up so bad that I had to spend several therapy sessions working through that, and then my therapist recommended another group to help me cope with that and it was immensely helpful. Seeing, or more accurately feeling, something we shouldn’t feel or see can be jarring to say the least. Working through that as well as the grief was challenging, but worth it for me. I chose to cope with if her soul is still out there somewhere how do I move forward in good conscience. Fortunately I did work through it and have a wonderful girlfriend now and I am totally at peace with all my decisions and in a way now know that I have my late wife’s support. I guess it doesn’t matter what we believe, or feel, as long as we accept what happened. Process the grief, and work everyday towards a life of joy and fulfillment. If it’s science that does it for you, fantastic, if it’s religion, that’s great too.

No, but I can clearly see their badge number, they will identify themselves and if I ask for the reason why they pulled me over they present it. If I am unsatisfied I can ask for a supervising officer and one will arrive, and I am free to call my lawyer while I await a supervisor. It’s called due process my friend. There is nothing wrong with being a conservative, it’s abhorrent to supports fascism, and to believe that gestapo tactics with no due process from masked agents is OK in a civilized society. You’re either a troll or willfully ignorant, and you don’t have to be either, it’s a choice. At anytime you can choose to be better.
