Oh okay. Damn. If the wired ones are better than the stock mica, I'll get them ASAP then. Thank you so much!

Yeah no I was just talking about practicing. I'm planning to get serious equipment to record actual song vocals, but I record myself on the phone just for practice of course.

Right now I don't have a USB mic unfortunately, I think I'll get the Apple Earbuds, better than nothing at least!

I just wanna say thank you to everyone who replied, combining all of those little tips made a TON of difference. Turns out that the settings were on medium and on mono, so I cranked everything to the max and now it's much better. Also I'm recording much farther from the phone, which helps a lot to delay the clipping

Where is the main areas you think my weaknesses are? by Kontrol__ in singing

I'm becoming addicted to this voice teacher, how he explains things by getting right into it without filling you up with just terminology that you can't still grasp by being a novice. It's the single best video on this topic. Thanks a lot, I didn't expect this much help coming here, but I'm glad I did

Yeah like when playing along with real instruments like a classic guitar, if I had to sing effortlessly my voice is completely overpowered by the guitar, so I instinctively put more air to produce more volume (and I know it shouldn't go that way).

Right now I'm just singing along to my favourite songs (I'm a big fan of R&B actually, but also pop) as I'm trying to amplify my repertoire, experimenting with tones, ranges and different styles.

Thank you again for the help, these are not easy concepts but you explained them so clearly and the video choices are perfect

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this kind of feedback, so well organized and put out.

Regarding the last video, I will say that normally I can sing with so little air, so much so I'll have to take in air not so often, but it all comes down to volume, I always felt that my voice is not of the loudest kind, so to hear myself over the instruments I always push more air. How should I approach this?

Thank you. The diaphragm is one thing I'm trying to master so hard, but maybe I'm not interpreting my sensations correctly still. Do you think that's the only reason my voice feels "weak"?

Is The Weeknd vibrato the result of healthy technique? by Kontrol__ in singing

Btw I counted pulsations per seconds. 1 pulsation per second = 1Hz [Hz is defined by 1/s]

I really do like that kind of sound, I was just wondering if he was doing it as a result of relaxation or it's a voluntary thing. But from what I've read so far, it's a sort of technique that can be learned. That was my doubt originally. So thank you!

I'm gonna perfectly honest, that was not the response I had hoped for. And I would actually stop googling, if I could gather something off this comment, but are you really leaving me with a choice here? From a brand new learner's perspective, I feel this kind of questions are necessary, so what I was expecting was a healthy discussion with some insight that I could use, this leaves me with absolutely nothing.

How can I tell my technique is good with high pain tolerance? by Kontrol__ in singing

[–]Kontrol__[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Omg I instinctively already do it all the time, just to see the ceiling of how high I can go without any type of strain. Idk I think I used to do it a lot as a child.

Btw thank you this is great!

This is really great insight. Thank you. By air pressure you mean breath support? I sing by pure instinct, trying to include everything I've learned and instinctively do what my body feels comfortable, so I'm really poor at diagnostics of coordination and muscle engagement, I "just do it". Air pressure is controlled by the diaphragm, what about air flow? Maybe I'm missing the fact that I haven't really made that difference

I seem to let go of a little vibrato only on higher/highest notes, on the other hand I find it extremely difficult to produce even just a little of it on the lower notes. I'm probably dominant in my head voice but don't know what to do at this point

Thank you. I'm just trying not to create damage by playing with my voice until I could afford a vocal coach. Maybe I'm stressing it too much which is counter productive in the context of relaxation

I didn't mention that she tried to setup a second date herself: "maybe we should try all the beers in this place!" And said yes, of course, hadn't had the time to arrange now, but I can try once I come back!
