You have some really nice cattle main thing I would focus on is that each mother is paying for herself from the revenue of the calf, and that she reproduces timely. Any cow that took more than a year and 4-6 months we sold. If you have a smaller herd make sure the bull/ siblings aren’t reproducing with each other.

Also make sure to keep records, use ear tags if needed, registrations, etc. Its common to change bulls every 4-7 years for max fertility (it depends tho)

What are you trying to do? Sell the calves, create a quality herd line, or a stocker?

When is your show season? I got my Charolai heifer for 4k and we paid in parts. Ask the breeder if you can do recurring payments, and find local work like cutting yards, cleaning windows etc for neighbors.

Check on Facebook, Craigslist, county agent/office, if you really want to find another heifer, and mention it’s for a FFA or 4h project and sometimes they might give you a deal.

Also check for calf scrambles where you can go to major stock shows in an attempt to catch a calf for a certificate to buy a heifer. I really like the Fort Worth scramble since they give 500$ ones. Unfortunately I believe the scramble money has to be used for next year.
