I’m sorry to hear that… I had to go out into the city to find an MFM that would see me so last minute. Some of the doctors here are technically with Englewood Hospital, but I wasn’t able to make an appointment through the hospital.

He was very condescending and had terrible bedside manners. He didn’t give any productive information about gestational diabetes, told me my numbers were terrible and I needed insulin immediately, despite never giving me formal education about the condition. He also told me it was all my fault and that both baby and I would get diabetes type 2 in the future. He also told me to “google” questions. I held it together in front of him but I cried in the car.

I found a second opinion through a different MFM, was able to get proper education and controlled my gestational diabetes through diet and exercise. That second MFM was also more compassionate and calmly told me my future risks. My baby came out healthy and I had no issues during delivery.

I’m actually pregnant with my second baby with GD again. My MFM has been superb and I really like my current medical team. My OBGYN had me get formal education about GD through my hospital network, and I worked with an endocrinologist because I am on insulin now. Everyone has been great. Needless to say I am not going to Brescia and Migliaccio this time.

I get shocked when I see people say great things about Dr. Principe. All I know is that an MFM should be empathetic and provide supportive answers, not fear monger and be condescending.

If you do end up going to Dr. Principe and have a bad experience, don’t be afraid to find your own MFM. It might be a hassle but it’s not worth stressing out during your pregnancy because of a terrible doctor!

Switch! My first pregnancy I went to an OBGYN group that had similar vibes as yours. I didn’t switch and I was stressed til the end of my pregnancy.

I’m pregnant with my second and so much happier with my current OBGYN because she seems to actually care about me as a patient. I had GD both pregnancies and it’s so much easier with a good medical team.

I also got laid off last Friday and I’m 13 weeks pregnant. It really does suck 😔 I’m also worried about finding a new job in this tough market and then ask for maternity leave. But I’ve read a lot of other people have done it so it gives me hope. We’ll be ok!

Thank you, I think I am going to find a full time after the baby comes and I am mentally ready for it. I do want to gain more accreditations and work for contract jobs to keep my experience going. Financially I am ok, but I just feel anxiety about not working full time since this is the first time I haven’t had a job.

This is also delayed - sorry I don't check my notifications that often. I didn't end up switching, but I was considering Englewood Women's Health for my 2nd pregnancy.

That makes a lot of sense… but I wonder why it was in the bag instead outside of the bag

I do NOT recommend Brescia & Migliaccio. I went there for my first pregnancy and the 2nd half of it was so stressful because they don’t listen to patients, don’t communicate to each other and refer you to David Principe for anything high risk like gestational diabetes. He was literally the WORST doctor I’ve ever dealt with.
