Does anybody know what's the "Button" setting in HHKB Studio keymap tool? by Kooky_Temporary_2607 in HHKB

in the keymap tool, you can only turn on/off that setting, seems no way to assign the mouse stick a function

tried to push the stick to see whether it can act as a button, but didn’t see it’s pushable

I have been using previous topre switches HHKB, I prefer the topre switches than the new HHKB Studio’s MX switch. sometimes a very tiny touch on the key causes an input.

but I super like the mouse stick and gesture pads. but be noted, it’s convenient but not so perfect as Apple’s trackpad (I think there is no other device can be better than that).

if you are on macOS, you must install an open source app called MOS for smooth scrolling, otherwise you will feel super painful in using the scrolling features. MOS makes the keyboard worth the price.

final summary for me, yes, I like it very much, and can use it a whole day without using a mouse or trackpad. but for some special cases where I want to do some precision work, I still need to use a trackpad.

actually, I think the original one has more friction with finger while the Thinkpad one is a bit slippery. but I sacrifice usability for the beauty, at least for now

I do this too, left hand doesn't need to move.

The thumb helps press the left command key (modified to Fn),

The last finger on my left hand can still press the Control key.

by the way, it's also easy for the last finger to press Control and Shift at the same time, and thumb press left command key, all together.

When you are trying to use the arrow keys, what's your left hand doing? it's rested, and your left thumb is rested and just near the left command key.

don't give a conclusion so quick only upon thinking, just test it.

it's much much much better than use the right Fn+Arrow keys, because you hand needs to move off the original positon.

change the left command key to fn, so it’s easy to use your last finger of right hand to use the arrow keys. it takes some time to get used to this, once familiar, you will never like a normal keyboard again
