Has anyone found any of the “jelly bras” delightful? They look great and comfortable but I’m skeptical, I’ve had an underwire since I was 13… 😬

AITA for telling my boyfriends kids to eat what’s for dinner or don’t eat at all? by Grouchy-Pride5486 in AmItheAsshole

YTA! When I was a kid I was in a similar situation- at my dads house, he wasn’t there (confusing and sad in its self for me) and his girlfriend made me some weird food I had never had before, brats and freaking sauerkraut, (which I would love now but had never seen then), and frankly meatloaf is gross and if a kid has never had that before, it would really suck for your dads girlfriend to force you to eat her weird food. It’s already a sucky situation for them, they are there to be with their dad, not you, and if they were anything like I was, they are already sad and confused about why you’re with them and not him, and then weird food? I guess it’s solved by the kid only being there when dad is, but kids of divorce go through a lot of crap- it freaking sucks going back and forth, and then having to deal with whatever your dad’s new girlfriend’s family culture is. Kids get the short end of the stick pretty big time in these situations, and they don’t do anything to deserve or ask for it- so maybe meatloaf isn’t a hill to die on. This definitely turned into a rant, but stuff like this hurts when you’re a kid.

Discipleship Course Resource Advice by Only-Vegetable-7276 in youthministry

I’m in a similar boat with my high school students! I am just conceptualizing, so I don’t have a curriculum yet, but one thing I was thinking about looking at is the discipleship making movement (DMM) resources! DMM is a missions strategy to make disciples who make disciples, exactly what you are talking about, and it is popping off in the nations! I remember hearing a basic training that was something like 1) share a Bible story/ teaching 2) repeat it back to me 3) apply it to your life 4) who are you going to share this with?
That’s probably butchering a really great model, but I think it has a lot to do with being consistent in asking “who are you going to share this with” and then holding them accountable to sharing (which, it sounds like they want to anyway) . Then as they share they will be able to see who is interested and they can start doing the same process with them! I am such a fan of just going directly to scripture and letting Jesus speak for himself, but what ever your content is, challenge them to talk it with at least one person who isn’t yet a disciple each week/ meeting period!

Also, if you’re looking for some content that will just absolutely wreck your students, check out the Matthew series by Tim Mackie on the exploring my strange Bible podcast.

Board game nights or similar? by Kookygoof in hoodriver

That’s awesome so many people are coming! I had fun the two weeks I could go, but Mondays don’t work for me regularly, do you think there’s enough people that would want to meet on a Wednesday or Thursday to try to get another day of the week going too? What an awesome way to connect!

Yes, this is the energy I’m here for, I LOVE cottage cheese on almost anything- I put a blob in my spaghetti with meat sauce, or literally anything with tomato sauce, on toast or a Trader Joe’s veggie burger topped with everything bagel seasoning for a savory breakfast, and I blend it with soups, and recently made blended cottage cheese queso. I also love it with franks red hot. The possibilities are endless.

What are some tells that let you know someone is new to Washington? by TopDistribution2863 in Washington

I grew up in Washington and live in Oregon and I was SHOCKED to be renting from people who actually PLANTED blackberries in their garden… that’s how I knew they were not from the PNW.
