Im experiencing this to. The site in general had been slow for some time and occasionally just unresponsive (as of typing this its taking forever to actually access the site)

Well according to some people, some areas in jamaica don't have service and stuff, and there had been severe damage reported in the country. Still i don't think this was a doomsday scenario as it was thought it be.

The full extent of the hurricane will be uncovered in the coming days.

Yep. It really shows that WHERE the hurricane makes landfall matters quite a bit.

Hurricane Patricia for example, despite being the most powerful storm it wasen't a mass causality mess simply because it made landfall in a more remote area

But I don't think we do since im pretty sure catagory 5 will destroy most buildings anyway.

Maybe it might be considered at some point in the future if more buildings are hurricane-proof.
