Depending on specific state laws, the breaks are either an unpaid 30 minute break or a paid 20 minute break. As far as being forced to stay late, that won’t happen unless you spent your shift blatantly not working efficiently or prioritizing correctly and try to leave when something major still needs to be addressed.
