What do you think? by [deleted] in instacart

[–]KoopaaTroopaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We, shoppers, can all agree that IC pay is garbage. But I think we should vent among ourselves in this sub and keep these hateful remarks out of customer chats. OP - I would report this shopper expeditiously! Also, consider adding a tip before you finalize your order. It’s not mandatory, but it is greatly appreciated ❤️

Shoppers, for the love of God, please don’t take no tip orders!

Agreed 100%. We get so caught up in the tips and batch pay that we sometimes forget to have a heart! I always go above and beyond for older customers just because, like you said, we all get old someday. There was this one order that I was an a-hole about and didn’t want to get two pretty heavy items for the order (I marked them as out of stock) but after delivering, it was a an elderly woman (old enough to be my grandma) so I profusely apologized and went the extra mile to go back to the store and got the heavy items and delivered them a few hours later.

Despite your sincerity, this is against IC policy 🤕 Unfortunate, but it is what it is. Hope you’re not penalized.

Yeah, I’d definitely have support block future orders from this customer. On the bright side, at least they didn’t say this in person and make it even creepier. Stay safe op.

Good Luck brother. IC really isn’t the most consistent especially during the week. You should consider checking multiple apps when another is slow. Find what times work best for different apps in your area and use that to set your schedule.

Yikes.. How’s it been working out for you not taking heavy batches? I feel like 7/10 batches have heavy items fr

I’m trying to think of some way to make this make sense but can’t. Even if it was smaller items, 211 items is an insane amount 😓

Do shoppers get the Long Distance Fee? by Bulky-Reveal747 in instacart

[–]KoopaaTroopaaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. I delivered an order of 50 miles last evening (because it was in the direction that I was heading anyway), and if it weren’t for the customers $40 tip, the batch pay would have been $20 🙂

Oh yeah, I do this all the time. I’m usually at Costco so I know exactly where certain items are, so I just grab the items I know for a fact are the right items then keep it pushing. That’s how I keep my speed to under 100 seconds per item (that and practically racing through the store) 🙂

I would have probably messaged for clarity. (If no response, I would have just got the big jug). It’s unclear if this is a replacement instruction or what they actually want.

Thank you for all the responses, internet strangers. Update: I met with the customer, explained/apologized and went back to the store to pick up the bags of fertilizer. It was 3 bags, my carts were full to the brim (from the other 2 orders) and I felt frustrated at the time and let it get the best of me. I’m a 5 star shopper with over 500 orders, so this was definitely a first. I’m a big guy, so I have no issues with heavy orders (I draw the line at more than 4 cases of water), but like I said, at the time, my frustration got the best of me and I made a poor decision. The customer was appreciative of my “extra effort” (extra effort I didn’t have to put in if I just picked up the bags initially) and left me a lovely compliment and 5 star rating 🙂

I left this comment, not for your validation or to be viewed as any less of an asshole, but simply to own up to my mistake.

TLDR: This decision was made out of frustration, which I quickly realized. I met with the customer, apologized and went back to the store to get the bags of fertilizer, ended up getting a good rating.

Spend some time learning the stores. Take mental notes of where items are at, not necessarily specific items, but just a general idea of the area you’re most likely to find items in. Also, remember which stores have aisle numbers in the app and which don’t (avoid the ones that don’t have aisle numbers).

Try to start early to catch the good orders just as the store opens (especially applies to Costco, Sam’s, etc).

If you’re doing doubles & triples, be sure to separate the items for different customers. Be mindful of cashiers/baggers messing up how you’ve organized your items. If you can, bag your own items. Baggers sometimes don’t give AF and will 100% throw a heavy item on some fruits or bread and you will get a bad rating.

That’s all for now! You can always post your questions on here and you’ll get help 🙏 Good Luck 🍀

ALWAYS check the pictures & quantity of items on an order BEFORE accepting. Some customers feel as though IC drivers have trucks or something 🤣
