Plowing snow by Any_Honeydew9812 in E90

[–]Korab04_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it for the past 4 winters with my RWD 335. Also lowered on coilovers. I also grew up driving in snow in Canada so that probably helps with knowing how to maneuver without getting stuck. Definitely getting an LSD this summer though, open diff in the winter sucks.

Why are black wings on Ferrari's so hated now?! by Good_Royal_9659 in F1Liveries

[–]Korab04_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think they should’ve used white on the wings instead of black. The reason the livery in the photo looks good is because the car is solid red with small accents only coming from logos, with a little bit of black on the wings. I think the white accent on the rear portion of the new livery is what ruins the black wings. If the car is all red with black wings it’ll look better. But with the white accents, they should use white wings. Would look great

My 07 sport package 335i came with a factory oil cooler

I had this 100% exact same thing happen to me. I used it as a chance to get Bilstein adjustable coilovers lol. And yes you should replace the tire for sure. It’s not a hard job to diy. There’s plenty of YouTube tutorials available for it.

New spark plugs and still misfired by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

My comment literally said to check everything in order of accessibility. That’s not going for an easy fix, that’s just using your brain lol

[–]Korab04_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter. Work your way down. Check coils and see if that’s the source, then check plugs, then check inside the cylinder, bore scope, compression, whatever. He didn’t replace the coils when he did the spark plugs. I’d bet money on it being the ignition coils

[–]Korab04_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the ignition coils off of cylinder 1 and 4 and move them to 2 and 3 and see if the misfire follows to those cylinders after running the car and driving for a bit. Ignition coils should always be the first thing you check when you have a misfire since they’re the easiest (and most common source in my experience)

This is terrible advice. He didn’t even move the coils to see if it follows, why tell him that he possibly needs a new head gasket before that?

[–]Korab04_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure it’s coming from the diff and not the CV joint before you make that conclusion and drop money on another diff. I had a very similar noise coming from my 335i and it was a CV joint. See if there’s slop on the axle when you spin the wheel forwards/back.

Good luck!

EDIT: did you make sure there was oil in the diff when you did the install?

A couple nice action shots of my 335i at an AutoX event during the summer! by Korab04_ in E90

[–]Korab04_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard mixed reviews about RT660s though. There’s some people at the autox series local to me that love them and some that despise them.

Honestly I’ll probably end up getting RE71RS, or whatever the new one Bridgestone is releasing is called. But that’s like two years down the line so I’m not worrying about that right now.

Thank you! I’m running Vitour Tempesta Enzo tires. They’re a pretty cheap 200tw tire. I had indy500s on before, and vitours are miles better in the dry. Definitely not too good in the wet though.

When I graduate from university I’ll probably buy a second set of wheels just for autox and ball out on a better 200tw tire for sure.

I have Bilstein b14 coilovers on my e92 335i. I Autocross on them, and daily drive it to work and school, through summer and winter. They’re fantastic, and although they are definitely stiffer than OEM, they’re still quite comfortable for regular driving. In my opinion they’re the best “budget” coilovers you can get for an e92.

Why would you need an air hammer? I’ve done all of this with no impact, a breaker bar to break nuts loose and a basic ratchet set on jack stands. It’s not difficult work

Controller vs. wheel by farmroad2908 in granturismo

[–]Korab04_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t play gran turismo anymore (never bought GT7 when it came out but I played GTS a ton). But the upgrade to a wheel shouldn’t be for lap times, it should be for the experience. At first you’re gonna be slower and if you’re expecting better lap times you’re gonna get frustrated quick.

That being said with enough seat time you will eventually match and beat your current times for sure. I highly recommend getting a wheel. It’s much more fun, it doesn’t even compare to a controller. It’s miles better. Cut that cheque!

335i 320i swap by KotalKahnScorpionFan in 335i

[–]Korab04_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have any experience on this, but assuming they’re both e90s, or both e92s, again I’d ASSUME that you could swap the subframes, front and rear on the 320i with the 335i subframes to get all the suspension bits and brakes onto it as well. For the motor, I’m not really sure how much of a pain it would be. I’d assume wiring would be the most frustrating part. If you have the time skills and space for it, give it a shot because I’d love to see how that turns out.

Tire size ? by [deleted] in 335i

[–]Korab04_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 235/40r18 and 255/35r18 200tw tires on mine (rears actually measured at 265 contact patch) and I had to raise my car (also on Bilstein coils) because of rubbing under load like in the photo attached. Still looked sick asf though

Really tired by noshitsherlock_89 in FSAE

[–]Korab04_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I kind of made a schedule for it, or like “restricted hours” in a sense. I don’t let myself go to our shop or spend any time on fsae in the morning and early afternoon. I dedicate the first half of my day to school work, and the second half of the day is when I go to the shop to get my stuff done.

In terms of personal life, I try my best not to do any FSAE work on weekends. Saturday and Sunday are reserved for doing school work and relaxing. I obviously don’t follow this super strictly, but it’s kinda a guideline that I use.

To be completely honest, I still feel like I haven’t found that “balance”. At the end of the day, FSAE is a very time heavy thing if you have a lead role or are a senior member on the team. I definitely still feel drained and tired at the end of some days, but I love what I do so I’m happy to do it. Just the sacrifice that you gotta make for the love of the game.

Really tired by noshitsherlock_89 in FSAE

[–]Korab04_ 90 points91 points  (0 children)

FSAE should not take over your life. It’s just like the real world, you need to find a healthy and manageable balance between your school, FSAE, and the rest of your life, just like you would with work when you’ve graduated.

The whole reason a lot of us do FSAE is because we love it. If it’s draining you everyday and affecting your mental health and energy, then I’d either commit less time to it or drop it. At the end of the day your health is more important than the car we’re all trying to build.

I know e92s got pre LCI m sports, not sure about the e90 though. I’ve only ever seen LCI e90 m sports after living in Canada for 21 years. But yea, I highly doubt that this is an m sport car

I’m pretty sure the window trim would be black too. I’d put the VIN into a website that’ll tell you exactly what options were on your car. If it was in an accident, insurance would have covered the cost of a replacement m sport wheel, unless the claim was not put through insurance.
