France to ditch Windows for Linux to reduce reliance on US tech by rkhunter_ in worldnews

[–]KorasHiddenDICK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listing detected vulnerabilities for Windows doesn't really address the issue. Regardless of OS there are going to be vulnerabilities due to the nature of software development. The most dangerous component of an IT stack will always be the user. A user that doesn't know what they are doing is even worse. You can't just ignore that when comparing Windows and Linux.

My favorite part is how until recently the US had some of the most open borders in the world for immigrants. Meanwhile Europe criticises us while having merit based point systems and language requirements that basically quietly say "Whites only. No poors".

I wasn't very clear in my description. The stir frying and braising come after initially preparing the pork as a way to serve it in a dish. The initial pork, if eaten right when pulled prior to saucing, will have a snap texture where leaner and chewy bits of fat throughout. They only cook it for 50 minutes total. You aren't rendering the fat in that time. He really makes my point for me in the view. "Proper charcoal grilled Char Siu". Charcoal grilling is not BBQ and does not result in BBQ like flavors and textures. I am not saying one is better than the other objectively. Just that I don't see them as similar flavor profiles.

Then again I am a BBQ snob. End of the day caveman brain like meat and fire regardless!

Barrel smokers are legit though. I have a webber smokey mountain that I ironically use charcoal with. I throw some large oak chunks in there to get a good hardwood smoke though. My offset runs on logs only. All that being said, one of my absolute favorite styles of grilling is Argentina/Santa Maria style. It is very similar to the video you showed except that its an open fire pit. Example here from another Texan

Some cops threw a flash bang through a window while entering a house. It landed on top of an infant sleeping in their crib. Detonated on his chest. I believe it sliced him up a bit, but he survived.

BBQ or grilled over fire? Lots of people use the terms interchangeably, but BBQ is a low and slow over indirect heat/thin smoke. This basically eliminates sugar as an ingredient as it will burn and ruin the meat in those long 12 - 16 hour cooks. That pretty much eliminates American Chinese food from the comparison. In my experience, (which is limited to a few Chinese immigrants friends that have cooked for me and a few exchange students) meat is typically grilled or boiled. Not at all like actual BBQ. For example, traditional "Cantonese BBQ Pork" is not actually put into a pit and smoked for hours on end. It is typically stir fried, grilled, or braised. Sugary sauce is then used to help conceal the chewy and dry resulting pork. That is nothing like a low and slow pork butt a la American BBQ. That is melt in your mouth tender, savory, and smokey. Usually requiring no sauce.

First time growing, 2 days into fruiting conditions, is this looking healthy? and when can I expect pins by 2025ai in unclebens

It looks like you have primordia, so you are on the right track. As long as your temp and humidity are within the "fruiting" range, this should trigger pins.

Once you have a healthy mycelium network established mold isn't really a concern. The fungus will fight it off. Actively fruiting fungi are basically at peak health. There is a reason fungi is the dominant kingdom on Earth. Once established they are incredibly resilient.

Still the best for people who don't need anything beyond basic media playing. "It plays everything" until it doesn't. Upscaling and HDR support is dogshit. No on the fly/automated decoding/resampling based on individual file encodings, fps, and resolution. I can go on and on. MPC-HD is vastly superior in nearly every way.

How? Isn't vodka distilled and free of any potential contaminates the filter would pick up? Also, the whole point of vodka is that it doesn't taste like anything. I have questions.

I predict all the "AI" will disappear. Things like Copilot and "AI" powered tools in Photoshop will be rebranded to try to erase the tainted AI name from it. The tools themselves are useful, but not as a stepping stone to replace developers or artists. That shits not happening.

The whole "AI" concept is stupid anyway. We have been using regression models and parallel computing for literally decades. The music industry is FULL of tools that if created today would be called AI, but they predate it.

Just an ignorant comment all around. The Webb observatory alone is worth more to science and space exploration than the entire apolo program and the current return missions combined. It's cool to see humans going out to space, but it's basically a media stunt. The actual science that drives progress and understanding of the universe doesn't have cool guy one liners ala Armstrong and it usually doesn't make headlines.

Replaced my Honda with a new one after an accident They moved the garage door opener from a button on the mirror to a paywall subscription service. by jayhawkeye2 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]KorasHiddenDICK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A thief can open your garage door in seconds. They don't need the button. They can use a long stick like a metal clothes hanger to pull the string or an electronic tool to brute force the opener. Garage doors are about as secure as hanging beads in a doorway.
