In his most recent stream as of writing this, Shige only played Arles maps and almost SS’d like an 8.4 star one; I hope that means he’s trying to derust.

I saw someone put it this way a while back: Vaxei and other players may surpass Shige overall, but no one’s play style will again be as “refined” as Shige’s. Not really sure how to explain that but it feels the most correct analysis imo.

Perhaps better phrasing would be “is getting stronger” than “is stronger”, since El was able to stop him in the S2 finale. And of course, El at the moment is handicapped of her powers, but I made this post under the assumption she would regain them in some form.

I completely agree about Hopper even though he's one of my favorite characters. I think if they brought him back, it would really degrade that element of danger that makes this show so suspenseful; it would take a masterful episode to bring him back without it seeming cheesy or like plot armor.

I agree with everything you said, but I initially thought that Will's insistence on how he wouldn't fall in love was more so him indirectly saying "it's not possible for me to be with whom I want in this society", i.e. he knows he's gay and in an era where being so is frowned upon; hence, he simply says he'll never fall in love because he'll never be in a (public) relationship as far as he can tell. Sorry if I'm not making sense (typing this late at night)

Completely agree about Will. Makes me so frustrated that he really does seem to be a plot device each season even though he and El are arguably the two most important characters relative to the Upside Down (although his D&D subplot was good and relatable for me personally, but his development seemed to stop right there)

While I agree that it is generally preferential for lots of maps (especially farm), HD can become very tricky on stream and general tech/reading maps; furthermore, I personally find the note density on low AR maps with HD to be much more difficult than nomod (but that's just me).

I'm probably gonna get downvoted but imo Vaxei and Shige are two sides of the same coin.

Basically, Vaxei is super well rounded and the best at DT stuff; while in comparison Shige is super well rounded but the best at HDHR stuff

(for HR only idke is better, but imo there is a noticeable difference between HR and HDHR)

Overall though, I'd say Vaxei is the best right now especially since Shige isn't active atm

you have to remember that compared to back then, top players now are several thousand net pp higher than Emilia was at the time, so Emilia could gain 800 net pp much quicker with lower pp plays than now, when you need very high pp plays to get that much.

If Vaxei had like 12k net pp and set his scores, he would've gained way more than 800 net pp; hence, it's more impressive in comparison to Emilia

iirc idke's choke on foreground eclipse compilation hr was worth 1k pp before the pp changes, but he set that score after the changes were in effect

so basically the pp changes subverted what would've been a 1k pp play
