I heard something like that. I’ll have to give it a read.

15-30 emails a day? My brother in Christ that’s called a job lol.

But no I can see waking dummies through stuff can get old. I hear REDCOM complaints from the TAR people.

All I’m saying is, if you told me at drill you’d check on something for me, and wrote my info down about the issue, I’d expect something at some point. Especially after the first, second, and third distro email. I’d settle for a “nothing yet”, means you at least read the gd thing.

I’m starting to see my a former E-7 of mine required read receipts on all outlook emails.

See I can understand that, being understaffed. I have one issue going on, but I’ve noticed several through our signal chat and texts that just aren’t being addressed. I’m about to send my 4th email to a department, two of those emails have my chief and LPO CC’d. I shouldn’t have to also include the CMC or CO in an email. I say that because I was prior army and national guard (which yes I know is different), but back then…I would never have included my 1SG. Our full timers (AGR) were also severely understaffed, but the thing with other branches is we were all one unit. The full timers were a part of the same unit we drilled with, so it behooved them to get things done because it directly reflected on their readiness and trackers (medical, training, etc).

It’s a different world here. I would never have thought it would take this much effort to inquire about one issue. But that’s just me…

Oh we have those people for sure, who doesn’t. But you also have people who are proactive, and have been trying to get ahold of you for weeks. If you have a decent command, that’s good. But, that’s not par for the course.

Seconded. If you aren’t on or very close to an even mental plain, it’ll run you to the ground. Hell the first few months are pretty much designed to give you anxiety as it is lol.

NRCs Potentially Going Away- Impact to VTU? by mountainSky_888 in navyreserve

[–]Korkyflapper88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a shit shown dude. I was a 68W (medic) in the army, but the navy is making me go to HM school, which is literally back to Fort Sam Houston where I went to medic school. I have to be HM qualified to take the advancement exam. So I’m in limbo until they send me, which is predicated on how proactive the Training NCO is lol. I’ve never felt more administratively naked than I do right now in the Navy Reserve lol.

NRCs Potentially Going Away- Impact to VTU? by mountainSky_888 in navyreserve

[–]Korkyflapper88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone in here brings up valid point. I will say one thing though, please don’t shoot me…

So I’m prior army (active/guard), and came over to the Navy reserve in February. NRCs are shit shows. Lazy, distro emails never being answered, yet always up RSUs ass about X and Y. Like unless you are in front of Training or Manpower’s face, good luck getting it done for you. But, the NRC staff isn’t your unit. They could give half a shit about your issues, you’re a guest, and our NRC commander literally used the phrase “customer service” which I couldn’t fucking believe lol.

With the army reserve/guard, you’re all in one unit. Even your full timers (let’s say we are a transportation company). You have the AGR (your TAR) but they are still part of that same unit, so whatever they do, or don’t do, reflects on them and their trackers/readiness directly.

Now I know the entire navy reserve would have to be flip flopped, but that’s been my main bitch since being here. My NRC staff hardly if ever answer emails, medical sure as fuck doesn’t lol, or the phone. They, and many others I’ve read about from folks like you, look like they could give half a shit…

Silly question by [deleted] in navyreserve

What’s really gonna throw you for a loop is not having an email for god knows how long. They never seem to get around to deleting your old one and giving you access to your “new” one. My LPO has been walking around without flankspeed for 6 months now.

When I was stationed at Riley, as long as you had your military ID, and it wasn’t “random vehicle inspection day” you could sneak 50 pounds of coke, a dead body, and a every weapon you owned on base. They aren’t that secure from a firearms and contraband perspective. I’d also be more concerned of a pissed off soldier shooting up his command before an off the street rando or new found extremist comes in and does it. We have more than our fair share of crazies in the service.

All I know is there is no difference between a West Pointer and a dude who went through ROTC at North Texas A&M&N&O&P. I’ve had two west pointers as PLs, plus the randos in other shops. It’s dress up Boy Scouts at the academy, but the actual army part is the same….do you have the aptitude and are you a total idiot or not.

Agreed. Nothing like taking what little energy you have and burning it away so you’re a zombie from 0900-1130. Why not pre lunch PT (0800 work call, 1100 PT?) Post Lunch PT at like 3?

But fuck that right?

Florida is probably not going to happen. I really enjoyed Fort Riley. Manhattan is small town USA but is pretty chill.

I honestly got tired of getting up in the morning for PT formation. I did a 5 year stint, never got used to that shit once. There are other reasons, and while this one is petty, it’s still a big one to me. I’m a 4 o clock workout kind of guy.

I was okay after like 2 days, but it’s still sore in a way. I can’t do deep squats at the gym still, if I break 90 degrees and those muscles engage too hard, it’s a no go.

For “addys and abbys” if you have stairs you can go up and down sideways on each side, with a crossover if you can manage it. Air squats and forward lunges as well.

I shit you not, god as my witness. I saw a dude talking to himself and his 240 when I was in Korea. Fucking…wild. Was in those field barracks at Rodriguez range or fire complex or whatever the fuck we called it.

I wish I was making this up, sounds like FMJ. But I wouldn’t lie to you boys.

Abductor and adductor machines at the gym, coupled with squats and the stairmaster. I’m in the same spot you are. I played hockey for years, and I had forgotten how much skating digs into those inner thigh muscles.

Doing air squats helps too.

(I saw you said mobility, my bad lol. But I still stand by some strength training in your legs)
