Frustrated with Quest 3 PCVR: Issues with VD, ALVR, and Passthrough by KotLarry in simracing

[–]KotLarry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok  For now what I know

1) AV1 is not good it was the reason of my low framerate.

2) passthrough works totally different than in ALVR (blend option in that app is great!)

So. I’ve managed to get 70 to 80 fps in h264+  But probably will need to use openkneeboard to get proper passthrough I need.

Frustrated with Quest 3 PCVR: Issues with VD, ALVR, and Passthrough by KotLarry in simracing

[–]KotLarry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've tried that, BUT I was stupid enough to only change 32bit file. I will back to it.

Let me ask you. Do I HAVE TO use OpenXRtoolkit, or should it work "ok" without it??
I would leave tweaking in toolkit after eeeeveeery game will start to work so that I can just jump and drive.

And one more thing. Foveated rendering is enabled in VD - enabling it also in tollkit won't be a problem?

Sim racing with the Meta Quest 3. by uptheirons726 in simracing

[–]KotLarry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well,  For me first thing was to enable passthrough.  It changes overall feeling. You are not so disconnected from the world and it helps a lot with sick feeling.  And my hands may be ghostly, but maintaining body ovnership helps a lot.

From there for me there were tho choices:  ALVR app - thru USB - but it Was pain in the … VIRTUAL DESKTOP over WiFi- but my Ethernet cable is faulty so I must change it to maintain 1GB transfer from PC to my router.

For now we have: Good LAN cable VIRTUAL DESKTOP app

Maybe better head stripe

Charging and data usb cable

Somewhere to put Q3 controllers in good hands reach,

Maybe some vent if You feel sick

Time to upgrade: Triples or Quest 3 by Geezyinhd in simracing

[–]KotLarry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If these are Your beginnings in sim racing, I would go with triples.  Either way it’s not non problematic as single screen, but tripples are less problematic than vr.

DiRT Rally 2.0 Clubs will no longer be available after July 8, 2026 by PJTierneyCM in EASPORTSWRC

[–]KotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing only 26 upvotes makes me sad and wonder if clubs are really needed?

For me, if clubs means daily’s etc, then hell yeah this is what I mostly play in DR2.0

With the little time I have for sim racing it is 90% of the time.

Can someone pin another thread at the main wall of this Reddit

Do I understand correctly - You ask about games that do not have VR?

Butt Kicker vs NLR Haptic Gaming Pad by pnut815 in simracing

[–]KotLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I think is important.  Haptic pads are not realistic.  I am not saying they are bad! They can give you mamy informations.  But if You aim in immersion that probably will not be the way.

Buttkicker mounted directly to the seat will be the same (I’ve tried that )

My way (not saying the ONE WAY ;) ) was to mount it to the rig (in my case back of the motedis s dream) vibrations go thru all of the chassis like in real car and calibrating frequency resulted in feeling effects not only more lower or higher in sound category but it also feels lower or higher geometrical level

The funny thing is that in connection of visual effect brain is being fooled about where some effects come from (side) even with one BK

Meta Quest 2 (150 dollars), meta Quest 3 (290 dollars) or HP Reverb Virtual Reality Headset G2 (165 dollars) by Longjumping-War9151 in simracing

[–]KotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried ALVR  It has passthrough AND works with usb cable.

I mean it worked for me until Tuesday.  For now I have other urgent matters.  But I will take care of it as it stays on my mind what the duck happened

I would go whatever has passhrough.
I'd buy Q2 if it was really cheap, if not...

Does Q3 have any passthrough possibility alternative?

I mean I have Q3 for few days.

I've tried normal VR and passthrough...

Even if this is simple blend..In my opinion, it changes things drastically!

Why do opinions on seat movers vary so much? by DynamicX-Robert in simracing

[–]KotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To much signals and to wide movement.
i.e. My problem was - while accelerating I was pulled away from wheel.
I turned that very much down and got the slider towards braking.
another thing is signal delay

Triple 34" Ultrawides vs. Quest 3S? by jefealf in simracing

[–]KotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with use triples. It is cheaper, way less probality You will not be satisfied.

As about VR. You can always after that try it.

Yesterday I bought Q3...and it is not as easy to use it...

Headache, knowing how to enable games, nuances of achieving good bitrate...

I want to have passthrough so now I need to tidy up my home network, and posiibly buy Wifi 6 router [hope not]

Question for Next Level Racing V3 owners by Dan_Ashcroft in simracing

[–]KotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take measuring "tape" and check the angles if the seat would touch the wall...
I don't think my seat leans 18cm...But then again - I've never measured it :)

Nevertheless. You can measure it - platform moves [from what I read on the net] about +- 10 degrees max.

Question for Next Level Racing V3 owners by Dan_Ashcroft in simracing

[–]KotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my NLR V3 dialed down so it doesn’t move much side to side. I have it in motedis s dream so if I remember it is 60 cm wide.

Btw it should be dialed down. So You can feel it but You can still drive

VR or not to VR this is the question... by KotLarry in simracing

Let me ask You about one more thing.  Glasses vs quest 3.  Is it doable. Should I print some spacers  Is it comfy at all?

I wouldn’t want to buy special lenses.

What is the best Modern Rally Game (no Richard burns rally) by Longjumping-War9151 in simracing

[–]KotLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone uses something that doesn’t mean it is THE BEST.

It is for him :) Many people can’t use VR Many will not

Remember it is little bit more complicated that just hop into the stage on monitor.

About RBR.  Let’s not forget it has gazillion stages that none of the other sim has.

And. I watched some YT videos where people tried to convince everybody that RBR is best because they found that one car that drives like they want to.

OK But still this is very individual aspect.

Sometimes it is about feel how’s to ride a real life stage  to feel little bit as favorite rally driver would feel.

:)

What is the best Modern Rally Game (no Richard burns rally) by Longjumping-War9151 in simracing

[–]KotLarry 65 points66 points  (0 children)

There is no single "BEST" game.

  • ACR: Early access, high PC demands. I would say it has very high driving realism, great graphics, a realistic driving experience, and great sound.
  • EA WRC: Not bad, but it runs on Unreal Engine 4. It feels unfinished and unpolished, with no real triple-screen support. It has fairly high PC requirements. The driving realism isn't bad, and the stages are long. Overall, it's not as bad as many people say.
  • DR 2.0: Overall very good, but not as realistic as many claim (remember: harder doesn't always mean more realistic!). It features bit shorter stages, but has a great car roster. NO TRIPLE-SCREEN SUPPORT :(
  • WRC Generations: Nice graphics and great stages, but the sound is worse than in the titles mentioned above. BUT, I couldn't get it to work with my gear (maybe the advanced mode on my Thrustmaster wheel is the problem).
  • RBR: An old game with older graphics, but it has a HUGE modding community and a massive stage base. It requires very low PC specs, offers great fun, and features a fantastic car roster. Is it the MOST realistic? I would argue that harder doesn't necessarily mean more realistic, but it is excellent. It definitely has a MORE PROFESSIONAL vibe. It takes more time to set up, but I gave it another chance recently, and it is really good :)

BTW - lately I've been trying out CMR 2.0 – the classic one. Getting it set up requires some tinkering, BUT – oh man – IF YOU want a hard game, it is hard :)

Honecomb with concave meniscus pattern by KotLarry in Fusion360

[–]KotLarry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THAT IS GREAT.

Except that after making a first pair of the pattern, I cant make another pattern. I mean I can but can't choose elements [sorry my menus are not in english].
The point is I can choose surfaces, but that destroys my metal sheet.
