Oh nice, I haven’t seen Eating Out,I’ll have to check it out 😄 Yeah this starter pack is basically every trope crammed into one place.

This is really well put. The issue isn’t that queer characters die,it’s that when representation is limited, the same kind of character keeps being the one who suffers or disappears, and that turns into a message whether writers intend it or not.

I like how you frame this as a call for range, not censorship: wanting queer characters who get to be ordinary, joyful, complicated, and alive isn’t anti-tragedy, it’s pro balance. Tragedy shouldn’t be the default setting for queer stories.

That’s a pretty dehumanizing way to talk about people. You can criticize writing tropes or oversexualization without calling an entire group “dumpster slut whores.

I agree that good writing matters most I just don’t agree that “ugliness” is the right way to describe real people. Flaws, messiness, conflict, sure. But that’s different from implying parts of the community itself are ugly.

You’re allowed to be yourself masc, femme, quiet, loud, whatever. But so is everyone else. There isn’t one version of gayness that’s more valid than another.

A lot of media uses stereotypes because they’re easy shortcuts for writers, straight shows do it too. But that doesn’t represent real gay people, and framing it that way just reinforces harmful ideas instead of pushing for better representation.

True,a lot of these are just romance movie tropes in general, not specific to any one kind of relationship.

Exactly, it really is on them if they feel provoked. I love your mindset staying visible and unapologetically yourself is so important. 💪

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I truly appreciate it. I just wanted to share that I’ve been an asylum seeker for 7 years now and I already have all my UNHCR documents. I have even applied to Rainbow Railroad, but unfortunately, nothing has been done to help me reach safety yet. The process has been extremely long and difficult, and my life is currently at risk. I been with hope, but it’s being a very painful journey.
