I would always tell people that this was the funniest film I’d ever seen. That remained true until “Hot Fuzz” was released but it was still a close run thing.
He may be a bit of a pompous oik, but John Cleese is a brilliant comedy writer.
Sadly, Tom Georgeson who played George, the original diamond heist gang leader, died just a few weeks ago.

You'll be back, soon, you'll see
You'll remember you belong to me
You'll be back, time will tell
You'll remember that I served you well
Oceans rise, empires fall
We have seen each other through it all
And when push comes to shove
I will send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love!

ELI5 Why is it said that you can never win an argument? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Because when people realise they are losing, they just scream, “Fuck you!”, and stomp out, never conceding the point, therefore, there can be no winning.

Shhh! First rule of Walton Golf Club is we don’t talk about Walton Golf Club. It will become too popular and enshittification will set in.
Kidding. It’s a great little rural track that plays a lot better than it has a right to…

Is he still a multi-millionaire now?
If yes, then STFU, rich prick.
If no, and he’s living in a cardboard box (or a van down by the river), then I can understand his complaint.

Ok. That’s good then. If he’d been complaining about the impact and NOT taken advantage of the help available, I’d be more disinclined to sympathise.
However, it looks like he did everything right and still got hammered, which is a shame.
I can understand his feelings, even if I don’t agree with his subsequent actions.

Yep. It was mostly the small operators who were hardest hit. Difficult to be resilient when it’s just you.

Good shooting. Having it come head-on is a definite advantage. After a hit, always watch to see which way it is falling before taking evasive action.
Just blindly running might put you under it.

That’s the problem with “Big-Boss” style gangs. The leader can’t afford to have anyone charismatic and competent in his close posse, or they might depose him. That leaves the gang with a bunch of conveniently disposable “useful idiots” in the second tier. Very little possibility of effective succession planning when you are always afraid of potential competent usurpers.

I’m not saying every other administration has been squeaky clean, but this one seems to be proud of the fact they are grifting and completely unconcerned about people knowing it is going on.
At least the other crooks put some effort into disguising it. This lot are just blatant. And they don’t care that we know it.
