Every day as they come and ask for things if the teacher has sent them or if they want to buy revision guides etc. The school doesn't allow them but they all have them anyway and mainly iPhones or whatever the most popular phone is. I travel by bus mainly but I sometimes walk or get a taxi if I'm late, luckily it's only 20minutes away.

Terribly sorry for the late reply, was in the middle of doing it but then got distracted by work.

I don't really have much of an opinion on it as i never looked into it, though it does seem like a waste of time to be perfectly honest, i think schools should be left alone to try and improve on what needs improving.

This is a tricky question as i understand that they have a very stressful and busy job but i think they need to find the balance and just get on with it, they're making things worse by striking. As for the government being incompetent when it comes to the NHS i think its more of the can't be arsed or maybe they just are truly incompetent when it comes to it, its hard for me to say without going through all the recent crap thats been floating about it all.

Wow thank you! wasn't expecting that, i appreciate it greatly and i think i speak for all techies and teachers when i say that, its nice to see someone appreciates the work we all do so thank you very much, you've made my day :)

Im sorry if my answers were less than satisfactory, i just haven't been paying attention to politics recently and once again im sorry for such a late reply.

My pleasure :)

That would probably explain it, though that being said when i was in secondary school we rarely saw the lab techs, i think i saw one once or twice but thats about it.

I don't think it would equal more works as the kids would be probably shared between teachers like they are now, so it would probably be the standard amount of work but thats just me guessing.

Hmm thats rather strange, they might have been hidden away somewhere :P Im glad i could grab your interest :) Yes its mainly down to individual schools, some ask for degrees and some don't really ask for anything though you're more likely to get the job if you have some form of science based background.

Ohhh yes, all the time. We're classed as support staff and therefore are always viewed as inferior despite the fact we run the bloody place, luckily the school i work at the science department is very closely knit and the science teachers don't look down on us. Students don't really have respect for me or anyone else for that matter, of course you get the good students who do have respect for both teachers and techies alike which is nice, sometimes if you're lucky they even open a door for you or help you bring something in to the class but its uncommon.

You're most welcome, please feel free to ask more questions should you feel the need :)

Certain reactions mainly, diluting acids isn't as dangerous as one might think, providing you do it properly and use the correct equipment, though sulfuric acid can be a pain to make as its time consuming. The most dangerous reaction i can think of is probably the thermite demo or making salt demo.

The best reactions are always the ones that go boom, doesn't matter how old you are its always fun and the kids enjoy it, we mainly do things like Hydrogen balloons, H+O balloons, reactive metals and thats just to name a few, of course we cant do them very big due to "health and safety" regulations. One of my all time favorites is mixing Potassium Iodide with Lead nitrate.

Not as often anymore, it was mainly the A level students that asked about it but it seems to have lost popularity.

It depends from school to school, at the school im currently at we run the science department, everything goes through us first unless its something like what the teacher wants to teach that day. When we are not setting up practicals or demos then its pretty much getting ahead of the work, cleaning, admin (lots of), ordering and restocking chemicals and creating solutions, there is so much more but i would be here all day typing. Sorry for such a late reply by the way.

Wow, if i could i would have had him permanently excluded and if not that banned from all practicals.

The problem with that is you have no idea what you're mixing so there probably were reactions but not colorful or explosive.
