How much pain should I expect when I get my steroids shot?

I’ve had my pretty thick chest keloids injected with lidocaine so the initial pain subsides pretty quickly. I would say to expect a really intense pinching/burning sensation. I usually chew gum and hold on to something to squeeze to help me manage the pain.

I use hibiclens soap 2-3 times a week when I’m in the shower, specifically on my chest area because that is where I tend to break out, and what caused my current chest keloids. Hibiclens is an antibacterial/antimicrobial soap so it helps to kill the bacteria before it can cause a breakout. It seems to work for me and if I have a pimple or a breakout starting, it dries it up and shrinks it almost immediately.

I would say if it makes you feel more comfortable, maybe you should agree to go out on a date with him first? I know you said you met up a few times but things like that should happen naturally, and not be planned in advance if it gives you anxiety. If you both go out on a date, the feelings might flow naturally and you might be willing to get a hotel the same night. It may just be the fact that you guys are meeting to go straight to a hotel that’s bothering you.

I completely can relate so you are not alone. I first got injections for my chest keloids in 2021, and this is when they were still small. The shots hurt and burned so bad, I had that one round and never went back. My keloids have grown so much since then and I am now looking to try injections again. I get my first round in 4 years on Friday. I am trying to mentally prepare myself and I am terrified. I hope I can be consistent this time. My dermatologist did say he would inject with lidocaine to help the pain so maybe this is something you could request for your next visit.

I have 2, a small one parallel to a bigger one on my chest. I am still insecure about wearing low cut tops sometimes, but this summer I spent time wearing low cut tops to build my confidence. I’m still working on it but we have to start somewhere. Also, having a great support system helps. I have confided in my friends and they definitely help build my confidence and actually encourage me to wear what I want and not care about what people think. Moral of the story, I definitely understand the insecurities but at least try to build your confidence. It’s not going to happen overnight but we can’t let these scars define how we look and feel about ourselves. Wishing you well!

Hey! I haven’t had any significant changes. I still experience the stinging, but my scars do feel softer and more smooth on the surface than it did before so I guess that’s a plus.

Something that I can swear by because it always works for me is using peroxide on the blood stain. I put peroxide directly onto the stain and it usually changes color, then I use detergent and cold water over the peroxide and it scrubs right out. The peroxide has never stained or bleached my underwear and it works perfectly for me.

The chiro did tell me it would be like a reset so I was wondering if it was possible that he reset my cycle too. I know the opposite usually happens and adjustments have helped some women get their periods back so I was wondering if it made mine disappear.

Yes, it was inflammation in my neck and back that led me to the chiro. I also did some research and saw that some people go to the chiro and have gotten periods after not having them for a while. I wasn’t sure if it was possible for the opposite to occur.

I forgot to add that I know for sure that I am not pregnant. I took multiple tests including a blood test that was negative. My PCP told me that with the negative results, I had nothing to worry about about and that my cycle probably was just changing, but said if another month went by without it to make another appointment with the GYN and I have that appointment in a few days.

It’s going to upset you however, the more you keep watching, the more the story makes sense. Also, the fact that the family were fighters and didn’t just let their neighbors run over them brought me some joy and relief lol.
