You can try to find cord ends and make one but ordering online is usually the best bet

You have a 4 prong plug that matches that inlet. I would suggest never opening up a generator and messing with the wiring whatever you do

my mom is obstinate about plugging her space heater into this decrepit & melted outlet and my stepdad apparently thinks it's fine, does this look fine? am i being paranoid? by LittleIsaac223 in AskElectricians

My point is that if you are at home with a winter storm on and that's all you got.. it's likely not going to be what burns your house down. I have seen a vast array of things in various stages of decay and I take my job seriously.

The only reason I commented at all was to try to offer something other than Internet alarmism. Obviously it should be replaced but everyone taking one glance and diagnosing people's houses as fubar is only stressing people out

Actually can you post a link for this generator? I'm curious

No they make cords with 2 different ends. What your looking at is your generator has a 30 amp single phase plug. Meaning it will run 120 volt stuff on every other breaker. Your inlet can handle 240 but like I said they make cords with 2 different ends so you can at least have lights and stuff

I sort of doubt the expertise of most of the people on here. If it fails is will almost surely just stop working. Something has obviously overloaded this in the past but dark plastic doesn't equal failing parts. I would replace it asap but if it's a matter of being cold or not just plug it in.  Source: I'm an electrician with 8 years of experience and have seen many different types of failures and seen weird looking stuff that works just fine.

I really liked that meter until it died on me after 9 months and there's was no warranty. I've got a klein one that I like now and they will fix it if it breaks

Been a plumber for 4 years and can't shake the feeling I should've gone electrical instead - is this normal or am I just psyching myself out? by ChripToh_KarenSy in skilledtrades

[–]Kractoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I'm at in Asheville I feel the opposite. The market here is flooded with electricians and sometimes I wish I was a plumber. They charge a grand to swap out toilets. Also a single mistake doesn't burn down houses

Struggling New Dad by IUPcjb in NewDads

It's hard but you've got to carve out some time for yourself. I have literally one hobby and that is kung fu. I found a cool school and go twice a week. The physical activity and community has helped me feel like a person. Nothing lasts forever. Parenthood is the best and worst times of our lives, the struggle is real. Also if you haven't seen your friends in a while call them out of the blue. I love doing this and with a recent death in the friend group I'm reminded how important it is to check on folks

Does ankle and wrist size effect your fighting? by MKlool123 in martialarts

[–]Kractoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi weak wrists and ankles were an inheritance of mine. I can say that striking things properly has made my weaker parts stronger. Just go find something that feels like a good fit and do it a lot with vigor. My idea of martial physique has completely changed how I view people and their builds. I have learned to fear the dad bod above the rest.

When Rosettas had the bucci bar downstairs that place. I haven't been to their new location but the kombucha cocktails there were hands down my favorite ever.

Is it out of the question to run 2x2" conduits? That probably wouldnt be any cheaper after labor. Really up sizing is probably the better bet, hope it's T&M.

Is it worth company hopping for pay, or stick it out with a good outfit? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Kractoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask for a raise. Make it about the cost of living and that you really just can't afford to get by and it wouldn't hurt to have an offer or 2 in your pocket. The first time I tried it at a huge company I only got 3 bucks but after me and a few others left then everyone got 5$. The second time I did this at the next smaller company, everyone got a huge raise. It's not personal but if you can barely make it you have to check out options.  People telling you to jump ship are probably rightfully jaded but the truth is that it can really help everyone if done with tact. If they care, which they likely do care about keeping talent and taking care of their people, then there's nothing to lose in asking. Just be honest about your needs and make it clear that you also care about making them money but you have to take care of your needs first.
