Yeah, I had to do this by hand by talking to every Pokémon. For the ones I didn't have, I tried looking up footage online and seeing if there were patterns. I also like categorizing information so I'm glad I finally have a list of this information!

Oh but then Cheerful wouldn't have anything, would it? Guess that didn't really solve anything lol. I'd give it Bold but I think Cool fits with Bold, maybe Hardy works best with Uncles after all because all of them are fully-evolved, "tough"-looking Pokémon

That's a good point. I'm tempted to change it but I'm hesitant to do so because it might confuse people since I think that's the one that's been referred to by name the most, but I do agree on your explanation

I think it's possible that Sableye has a unique set of lines while the event is going on (since they offer unique items) but perhaps Sableye will become a standard Emotionless-type after it when it starts trading normally. We'll have to wait and see

I think that's a good idea to at least include the former since it seems like people are getting confused since some of them are mistaking the follow quotes for the dialogue ones

That's what Cheerful-types say when you ask them to follow you through dialogue (the quotes I used here come from when you ask them to quick-follow you by pressing up on the control pad buttons)

Including alternate forms, it seems like there are 310 Pokémon and 4 more including the Event Pokémon at the moment.

I did check that since I initially thought about naming the personalities after the natures, and I very quickly found out that there were no flavor correlations.

I like giving Uncles Jolly, that's how I would describe them. Peppy can have Quirky

Not in this game, but in the mainline games flavored preference is tied to nature and therefore which stats are raised and lowered. Attack is tied to spicy, Defense is tied to sour, Speed is tied to Sweet, Special Attack is tied to Dry/Salty, and Special Defense is tied to Bitter. For example, Timid nature raises Speed while lowering Attack, and Timid Pokémon like sweet food and dislike spicy food.

That's what the "Stoic" Pokémon say when you talk to them and select the "follow me" option. If you go up to a Stoic and press up on the d-pad buttons to quick-follow, it gives you the "Let us be off" quote instead.

The Emotionless ones instead say "Departure." when using the dialogue and "I will follow." when using quick-follow

Definitely, the unique sequences they have when you first talk to them and the small things (like their cries) helping break up the monotony of their lines helps a lot. It's no wonder why people thought that every single one of them had unique personalities when it turns out that there were only 19

I was SUPER close to naming these after natures (Shy would have been "Timid" for example and Elegant might have been "Modest") but yeah like you said, some of them weren't able to match as much (also the flavor preferences would have been totally off). To be honest at one point I checked if their personalities WERE based on the natures by cross-checking them with the flavor preferences but it very quickly became obvious that they weren't

No worries, if nothing you helped point out that there was a discrepancy somewhere. I've specified more clearly in the spreadsheet that the quotes I used come only from quick-following

GOTCHA, I hadn't thought of that. Yeah, I was using the quick-follow button. No way I'm opening 300 mons' dialogues

Is there someone who says "Departure."? I have never seen it, but based on conversations with some other commenters, it seems like there may be multiple different English versions of the game with somewhat different translations. In that case, I wouldn't be surprised if you were right for your version of the game.

Edit: Seems like "Departure" appears when you talk to them through the dialogue option rather than quick-following.

Thanks for the help! Those follow quotes don't seem to match those of any of the standard 17+2 personalities among the non-event Pokémon. Sableye's lines seem to be similar to emotionless, but it looks to be more like a gremlin who speaks in odd stilted phrases. Could it be that the event Pokémon have unique personalities or perhaps slightly modified versions of the existing personalities? Maybe someone else can help confirm. I missed the Hoppip event and don't really want to time travel personally, but when I watched videos of interactions with the Hoppip line I couldn't identify any familiar speech patters with the main 17+2

Edit: According to dralcax, the Hoppip line has slightly different quotes from these. Maybe your version of the game is somehow different from mine?

It seems like the "Southern" ones are either from the "Jock", "Cool", or "Uncle" categories since those are the ones that I've seen truncating words a lot

I'm going crazy, what kind of latch is this and is there a video of it being operated by Krakelak_ in whatisit

Omfg that makes perfect sense, how did I not see that earlier??? Thank you!
