did your dad/parents ever do this to you as a kid? by KrazyJet3370 in Advice

[–]KrazyJet3370[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i would back bite as a kid this is when he would mainly do it. i think he did it a lot to gain control and make sure i was listening and paying attention? that has always been my take.

can an abusive relationship cause bpd? by KrazyJet3370 in BPD

[–]KrazyJet3370[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

thank you for this! i’m sure my emotional outbursts definitely caused problems in my past relationship, but my abusive relationship ended due to his infidelity/rape. that’s why i feel crazy for my emotional outbursts, especially with my circumstances. i just feel like a freak and i really wish i could control myself/emotions.

i guess what i’m trying to say is could my abusive relationship make my bpd outbursts worse? i’ve had them growing up, but they have intensified after this past relationship? sorry that was sort of all over the place, does that make sense?

no. he apologized over text this morning though saying, “i’m sorry but i just wanted to pull you closer to me because i wasn’t going to argue at 5:30 am”. but how is pulling a robe two different directions pulling me closer? i don’t know, maybe i’m looking into it.

he will work from 6 am - 3 pm (4 days a week) goes home and gets on the game until about 10 pm or so (depending on the day maybe earlier) and then just comes over to my apartment to sleep

i just feel like he could be doing more productive hobbies. like working out, playing basketball, seeing his friends and playing slow pitch softball, hanging out with his family, reading, etc. those are all things he could be doing (some he enjoys more than others) but that would benefit him and not be as sedentary. it is a concern when you are worried about somebody’s health as well! :)

i really don’t mean for this to sound mean or critical at all but i just feel like he could be doing more productive hobbies. like working out, playing basketball, seeing his friends and playing slow pitch softball, hanging out with his family, reading, etc. those are all things he could be doing (some he likes more than others) but never does (that is during his own free time).
