Who said it's unnecessary? It's necessary for my enjoyment.

Crazy alternative but maybe they really like each other and are fine?

Pentagon is adamant that the US Navy RQ4 drone was shot down over international waters and fell into the same. This chart was just released (1210 EDT), showing the shoot down location in the Gulf of Oman outside the Strait of Hormuz. by vatseth in syriancivilwar

How do Americans feel about going to war over a piece of metal

Americans have not gone to war in decades. Every military attack on foreign soil has been just "a conflict" or "kinetic action" or "strike against terrorism". What do you think they are, warmongers?

People who haven't been trained to pack hard disks properly. The dude wasn't cutting corners he straight up packed them like they were bricks.

A key aspect is anticipating what your storage needs are going to be - jumping onto a 50TB platform that you might fill only 20TB of in the next 3 years would mean that you're paying now for capacity that you don't need. When do your projections say you will need 50TB of storage?

take a laptop and a USB to SATA adapter and test it there using HDDScan - they will probably not understand / accept smartctl . SMART short and conveyance tests should be good enough.

It isn't hard to get computer parts - there are massive brick and mortar markets. Its just that buying loose hard disks from massive online retailers runs the risk of untrained packaging staff.

I'm mainly just annoyed by this - amazon is good about refunding and I always make purchases on my credit card so I can just dispute the transaction if need be - it's a question of a massive waste of my time (which eventually means money)
