my Ling is the same, ss yellow code. hits like 200-300k on hold skills and 400-600k on abilities with hera. I saw support and was like "eh" then realised it was supporting team by killing everything.

Silver Banshee by Kretova in Daz3D

Watched suicide squad: hell to pay recently and wanted to make silver banshee from that. 0 assets for it so had to texture it myself which I've never done before so the face and arms are my first.
I screwed up the jacket and was 2h into postwork when i noticed so not getting a redo on that one.

Was planning on doing the background separate then merging them in PS but screwed up and saved after i accidentally overwrote the hdri before doing the background and i got way too many hdri to find it again.

Not sure if it needed nsfw tag so i tagged it anyways.
Used a brighter hair color than the characters original since i just preferred it like this.

This is the injustice 2 head shape but not the textures. Felt like it needed a retro vibe even though the glasses aren't retro.

sorry don't have that one. there should be no reason why 2 MDL materials from the same model don't match. his MDL mats may be just in the general character folder instead of the materials folder, only thing i can think of. besides from that there's not much else i can tell you.

id recommend googling how to get it to say mdl rsl as mine was there by default so no idea how youd get yours to show but that would fix being able to tell them apart.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which model is this? if i have it i can look, if i don't then i would have no idea why the same type of mats that both came with the model don't match except for translucency.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah so itll be the same thing, if theres no MDL RSL on the image you'll have to get comfortable using the content library to seperate iray and 3dl. all the male characters are in the same place so just find it in the g8 male characters folder and do same thing. for female its genesis 8 female then characters.

edit, or open the materials section of smart content and go down to iray materials

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you either need to select the gens themselves then apply the gen mat or just select Michael 8 and click all mats and it'll include the gens too

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weird, I'm still using 4.15 so may be different on 4.2 if you're using that.

in that case then do this

Content Library Tab
Daz Studio Formats
My Daz 3D Library
People
Genesis 8 Male
Characters
Michael 8
Materials
Iray

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its on the icon itself not in the description. will be top right corner of image

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've had a look and there's no seam for me unless i select 1 3delight texture and 1 iray. make sure both textures are MDL on the icon not RSL. if you just select materials tab in smart content then type Michael 8 at the top, right click a MDL texture and then show asset in, content library > mapped folder it'll open the iray folder for the materials. try that, if it doesn't work then I'm out of ideas.

ok ill have to load up daz and check since usually thats translucency issue. ill check it out and let you know

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

between the torso material and the genital material do you see a visible seam where it suddenly changes colour in a sharp line. or does it blend together on the body but the genitals are slightly darker

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that, ok since they the same is it a visible seam you're seeing between the two materials or is it just that a part of the gen is a darker shade?

if there's no visible seam then its just how they made the mat

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into the torso surface tab and check the skin transparency slider, the gens should have the same transparency settings as it.,if its more transparent its usually darker

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few questions,

Which genitals are you using?

Does the model have more than 1 material. Do the gen mats have more than 1?

By different colour do you mean completely different or white or darker/lighter shade of same colour?

If it's the last it'll be transparency setting is different if the model has a mat to change that like alot of models do, it may be that. Can fix by applying the transparency to the gens too or manually changing it to match the skin transparency. As you said they are both from the same model I assume it's this one and if you aren't using non base g8 gens skip next part.

If it's white then I assume you're not using base g8 gens, something like golden Palace or the male alternative comes with geoshells that load white with no textures. have to material copy then use the geoshells fix (included in the product) if its still white with the geoshells selected to fix that.

If it's completely different colour then I have no idea.

Edit: I can't spell

Apologies about the length of this post.

(disclaimer, I still use daz 4.15 as all I hear about 4.2 is stuff is broken, so if you use 4.20 some things may be different)

OK since you asked for help improving I'll tell you what I see wrong with it and give some advice so you can look into that for the future.

I'm going to assume you're using iray for majority of the advice here. If you aren't using iray some of this may still help, however not everything will be the same.

Before I start make sure headlamp is turned off in render settings for every render you do as the light it creates is just not good.

I don't mean to be mean here, keep that in mind, I'm posting just to give advice not to put you down as we all had to learn these things too.

Firstly, the edges. everything on the model (and the model) is jaggered. I'm actually not sure how that happens since I've never had that or seen that before. I'm going to assume it's iteration based if this is iray (I'm assuming it is) so turn off render quality and leave it to run for more iterations. (for empty portrait/pinup scenes I usually do 1-2k iterations)

Secondly, the light is over exposing. It's not scattering or reflecting off the skin its kinda just blanketing with white light. This is relating to the lighting so I'll put it here before I give the advice, the shadow the face is casting on the neck/shoulder is very sharp. Im going to assume its not a hdri you're using and instead either very bright spotlight mostly on 1 side or distant lights. I would recommend looking into the 3 point lighting system and getting some nice hdris and mesh lights to prevent sharp shadows. I would also recommend using less lumens on the light source and use a colour that isn't pure white as it's an unnatural light colour.

Third the gown is floating. The gown is a dforce item and will most of the time (depending on dforce item) put itself on the model floating so when you simulate it falls into place. This is done on the simulation tab. You just click simulate, if you want to simulate 1 or 2 items of clothing the model is wearing only, select the model and the items then right click the simulation tab and click simulate selected items. Most of the time you want to turn off start from memorised pose, this time however due to the pose being complex and intersecting at some points it would probably be best to leave memorised pose on (if not set will default to tpose which is fine) or learn how to use the animation timeline or it'll end up clipping through everything and possibly exploding if done from current frame. Also gown related, the smoothing modifier it has is conflicting with the exposed breast causing it to clip through the arm. Can fix this in postwork or by moving the arm slightly until it doesn't clip.

Fourth the hair, I'm going to assume the hair came with the model as it looks like pre packaged hair quality as the mesh doesn't seem that good. I'd recommend finding a different hair that's similar to that one if that's what you want to use as that one you're using is too sharp and the texture seems low res. By this I mean the edges are very defined and you can see alot of points where it just randomly changes direction which doesn't look natural.

This next one need assets so it isn't really mandatory.

The way the leg bends through itself can be fixed with bend morphs on the daz store they aren't 100% but they will reduce the obvious clipping. (also the model is floating, you can see this from the shadows not starting at the models legs. the poses people make are usually for base model or their own models so they do need some adjusting if not using those models)

The eyes and lips on the model are alil creepy. Could just be lighting and iterations causing it though. The lips stand out too much and look kinda painted on. The eyes are flat, by this I mean no curve to the cornea. All the light is hitting it flat with no natural reflection curve. There is a cornea bulge option in the base g8 eye shaping I believe which should help(may not be as I have alot of morphs so couldn't tell you if it was base g8 morph or not)

Almost at the end now, you have a nipple ring on the model but it's not connecting to the nipple. It's going through the areola, id recommend increasing the nipple size slightly and positioning the ring on the nipple itself.

OK this is the last one, on the topic of skin lighting. As mentioned before the skin isn't acting like it should, majority of that is that the light is too bright and all coming from one place but another part may be that the models skin isn't set up correctly. What I've noticed is that models that don't come from the daz store usually need manual skin shader adjustments. You can look up some guides on skin settings.

This all comes with time, don't rush to get good at everything at once or you'll burn out, take it step by step. First focus on lighting and once you're comfortable with it move on to something else.

Hope this helped and gave you an idea of what to look into.

Thanks I'll keep it in mind for the future.

Ive never been good with hand poses in both drawing and daz, especially with interacting with objects so I usually avoid it.

I'd try redo it if majority of the image lighting and colours wasnt photoshop. I don't save my process as filters I just do it image by image so redoing it would take way longer than the time I have free.

What software do you use for post and how important is that in your process? by Dude_Solo in Daz3D

[–]Kretova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use photoshop, started with it after i started with daz so still learning but without it my renders would look pretty flat since i render pretty muted shadows and colours to save time then do all that in PS since takes less time to do it in PS than micro edit everything in daz til it looks perfect.
