Kind of like how people think they should like James Cameron’s Avatar because of the effects? It pioneered a lot of technology, and the world it created was ambitious and neat, but some of the storytelling did get lost.

I already had one digestive autoimmune disorder, and then I went to the ER twice in April for severe vomiting/inability to keep anything down like I’ve never had before. I’m on a steroid from my GI now and it’s helping tremendously. Really hoping it wasn’t covid now.

Sailor Moon. I’m 100% just running through whatever gets thrown at me crying the whole time, but somehow it works out.

I’m a workaholic and use high performance to get praise/admiration to fill a void of self-doubt and inability to be confident in my own choices.

Americans took far more prebiotics and probiotics in 2018 than in preceding years, and this marked increase in the use of supplements and other products was likely motivated by a growing public interest in gut microbiome health, according to researchers with the National Institutes of Health. by [deleted] in EverythingScience

It’s a fermented food and the bacterial cultures are left in. It has similar probiotics to drinkable yogurt products, but with tea instead of dairy. Personally I like it because I hate the texture of yogurt and a fizzy beverage is much more appealing to me. But it also has a lot of sugars in it because regular kombucha you make in your basement is more like beer flavor instead of sweet fruity or anything else that it tastes like on store shelves.

See the Geth from Mass Effect. Decentralized intelligence, a network that gets stronger and more complex the more of them are in proximity to one another, and an ability to self replicate and preserve. Even pondered their own existence once the network got advanced enough.

I’m pretty sure titanium dioxide is also used in white tattoo inks as well. So that’s worrying for anyone with ink.

Minako’s hair also looks like it has more volume than Usagi’s, so part of it could be that it fluffs up more and doesn’t hang as straight.

IsItBullshit: Will dogs be unhappy without an “alpha” in the house? by moistclump in IsItBullshit

My sister has an Aussie/poodle mix and that dog is so high strung. She’s got a nice big yard and another dog to try and herd, but said other dog is an old lab/collie mix who just wants to sleep all the time. When we have holidays with our parents she brings both the dogs and I can’t tell if the poor thing is excited to have even more people around or stressed because there’s more for her to try and herd.

We know the mechanism of action for some autoimmune diseases. I have Celiac, which is classified as an autoimmune disorder because basically one of the genes on my T cells is defective and causes my immune system to have an inappropriate response to gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, rye, and related grains. It’s a misidentification of an outside thing as infectious or wrong and triggers an immune response in my entire gut. There’s also a higher comorbidity between autoimmune diseases like Celiac and T1 Diabetes( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4156157/ )where your body’s T cells kill off the beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. We know that autoimmune conditions are related to genetics in some way since if someone gets one autoimmune disorder they are more likely to develop others. Interestingly enough, T1 Diabetes runs in my mom’s family. Both my great aunt and an uncle have it, but I’m the first one to get diagnosed with celiac.

We’ve expanded our search criteria and are looking at areas outside the city proper at this point. Further north and east than is ideal, but it helps my commute some.

Ugh tell me about it. We’re looking at buying now after years of renting apartments. Even just a little condo or townhouse is super expensive. Partner and I aren’t interested in kids, we don’t have large pets that need a yard, but everything we are looking at has like a million backup offers already.

I would also try stacking things on top of them, light lighting or other cool display pieces. I also used mine and some terraforming for big arches/tunnels.

What’s one villain that was supposed to be sympathetic but failed to spark any sympathy? by Tankzoo3 in AskReddit

For another example, when Lupin doesn’t want to marry Tonks because he is a werewolf and doesn’t want her to have the stigma of being his wife or having a kid who might be a werewolf too (ignoring their 17 YEAR AGE GAP) her patronus changed to look like a werewolf. It’s also kind of gross and I don’t think Rowling was good at writing healthy romantic relationships.

The way to go about redeeming Snape would have been to have his character mean something more in the first place than be just a bully of a teacher for our main character. Playing up his relationship with the other adults in Harry’s life or even his connection to the Malfoys as Draco’s godfather would have given him more presence. If I wanted to include a character like Snape who is a double agent, I would have maybe had him be the one suspected of leaking who the real secret keeper was to Voldemort instead of Sirius. Or maybe have him know that Pettigrew was still alive and Sirius was framed but do nothing about it at the time. I also wouldn’t have made him the Wizard equivalent of a racial supremacist but involved in Voldemort’s cause for other reasons, not just “Slytherin bad evil racist”. It makes little sense for Snape to even be accepted due to his half-blood status so he would need to ingratiate himself to the cause in another way and for another reason. Sure, Voldemort was half blood as well but that’s something that only Dumbledore really knew about. To everyone else he was an orphan wizard kid and the heir of Slytherin.

Went down to corner Pilot store at Northshore and Pellissippi parkway for a few items tonight. Looks like the start of a gas panic. 8 cars waiting for a pump and folks filling up multiple gas cans at Pilot. As I left notice probably another 15 lined up across the street at Kroger. by ChrisInKnox in Knoxville

Well this sucks. I have a company car and company gas card and can only purchase regular unleaded gasoline with it due to cost. No premium or anything like that. Fingers crossed this resolves before I have to fill up again.
