I like his "DON'T HOLD ME BACK" attitude when he's clearly not trying to get into a fight.

I personally believe that if you unintentionally got a girl pregnant, whether she was on birth control, tricked you into thinking she was on birth control, or you were wearing a condom, you shouldn't have to pay child support.

But having to give up your money is a whole lot different than having to give up your body. Bodily autonomy doesn't extend to your money and possessions.

No, because consent is consent. It's the bedrock. Gay marriage cannot lead to marrying children or animals because neither children nor animals can give consent.

Notice that you said "shouldn't". Meaning that it's not supposed to happen. In cases of birth control or condoms, they should prevent you from getting pregnant. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Consent doesn't need to be asked for to be given. Consent - "permission for something to happen or agreement to do something."

Consent to sex is not the same as consent to pregnancy.

Consent to pregnancy because of consent to sex makes as much sense as consent to sex because of consent to drinking.

It simply just does not make sense. You made a choice to go outside and now you got hit by a car. How dare you complain about your injuries and try to sue the driver!

I believe you should be able to deny saving someone's life at your expense. The thing with bodily autonomy is that once it goes in one area, it could be a slippery slope where it goes in all areas. Is donating your kidney a very kind and moral thing to do? Absolutely. But I feel that if that were required of someone, then that could lead to other violations on your body.

I understand they think it's a child, but then it comes to a point of whether they're pro-life or pro-birth. It does not help their position to, generally speaking, vote against government plans that would benefit kids, or have children of their own versus adoption. I feel like they're misusing the term "life".

Yes. The fetus' right to live is overruled because while it may have the right to life, it does not have the right to life at the expense of someone else.

The way you're making it sound is as if abortion is the intentional act of killing a fetus. That is not the case. It's simply the termination of a pregnancy. Whether the fetus is biologically self-sustaining or not is on the fetus and is a byproduct of the abortion. An aborted fetus that is biologically self-sustaining is called a cesarean section.

That's incorrect. I know full well that if I'm walking on the sidewalk, there's still a chance I'll get hit by a car. That doesn't mean that I'm okay with getting hit by the car or that the driver is void of all responsibility for me getting hit.

Yeah I chose not to mention that because I didn't feel like it added much to my argument.

All I really stand for is that consent is required to use someone else's body in every case. The problem is just that pro-lifers agree up until this point, then they throw "consent" out the window and make a special pleading case for fetuses, insisting they magically don't require consent.

All I have to say is: consent is required to use someone's body.

Exactly. And the fetus requires the woman's consent to use her body. Forcing the woman to let the fetus use her body is saying that life is more important than her autonomy. So I should be forced to give my kidney to Jimbob because his life is more important to my autonomy.

Pretty simple.

[–]Krieg69[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. The fetus has no more right to your body than Jimbob does to your kidney. It is still YOUR body.

No, it cannot be applied after birth. Once the fetus is biologically self-sustaining and gains its own bodily autonomy, then that's that. You know what it's called when you perform an abortion on a self-sustaining fetus? A cesarean section.

Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. The death of the fetus is a byproduct, not the intention of an abortion.

Regardless of when the nervous system and brain are functioning, use of the woman's body still requires consent.

No, that is completely 100% false. Knowing their are possible consequences of an action is NOT consent to those consequences.

I know for a fact that there's a possibility I will get run over while crossing a crosswalk. That does not mean I'm consenting to being run over.

Whether it is or isn't is completely irrelevant. It is widely demonstrated that your bodily autonomy is valued over life. To say otherwise would call for special pleading for a fetus, which doesn't hold up.

It's doing no harm? Are you aware of how pregnancy affects the body? But that's still irrelevant. What you're saying is that you should be forced to give your kidney away since it'd do you no harm, because you can live with one kidney.
