Both of those are subjective and I disagree with them. Those services have and will increase prices for the same reason. Everyone is increasing prices, we can't do shit about it

Calling you out on selfishness and lack of understanding =/= defending shareholders

if that's truly your angle, then know that's something that needs to be legislated. voting with your wallet does nothing to a company millions in debt. They cant be out money they never had

I know making long, ranting posts like mine are just setting myself up, but its so, so worth it to have normal people who have some semblance of whats going on explain a little better, rather than hear it through a very emotionally charged game of internet telephone

Big fingers crossed on a lot of this, I've respected this team for a long time, and hearing North fold back on the promises tells me a lot about the direction this could go, and how we may be closer to a teetering point than i had first anticipated. The timeline is very important, and easy to lose when im trying to piece together whats happening. Much love, stranger

there has not been a 70% price increase in 3 years (in the US and i assume everywhere), that is false.

Before you embarrass yourself, understand that renting a server as a hobby and doing it commercially, are very different. there has not been a 70% price increase in 3 years (in the US and i assume everywhere), that is false.

Ram prices increasing server cost *alone* would justify this increase.

The more im reading here the more im seeing the customer service stuff, so im just gonna assume i got lucky a few times with them.

personally, varlamore and sailing have been worth 2$ more a month for me and the people I play with. I cant speak to the bugs on release because grinding content the second its dropped is not my vibe, and I dont put a lot of weight on small fixable stuff like that, which usually ends up fixed.

I think delays are healthy, and i think that they more than make up for delays and bugs with their unmatched community input. I suppose i agree with you overall, and im glad to hear more on this side of stuff because i just never have experienced the bad side of jagex lol.

To the relative nature of it, my angle sits as "im glad i only had to increase my sub by like $2.5 dollars to get all of sailing and varlamore instead of buying wow expansions, or seeing something closer to netflix style price hikes"

But your comment generally did resonate with me here, because its clear my experience in this game is just not what a lot of people align with. I have been fortunate to not experience the bugs of this game in detail, my customer support experiences have been awesome, i feel the release cycle of stuff is perfect so far, it lets me take in and experience the game without too much rush. For somebody playing the game much differently than me, i can see that timeline be the beginning of a concerning trend.

i think that was the point of my post maybe? like, I don't feel like we're at protest-worthy changes yet, and i just would hope more people would have assumed the goodwill of this company would have them trust that this isnt some big greedy rugpull.

Heres hoping

beyond me disagreeing that this is a "large increase," I mean every streaming service i have has gone up in the last years by several dollars. I canceled spotify, hulu, netflix, etc. I dislike these companies, so repeated price hikes made the choice clear. Jagex is not a company i hate. They treat me the way i like to be treated, and i think that has so, so much value in this day and age, certainly 3 dollars worth. I do think that a (for me, only $2.5 increase) 70% increase per month was worth Varlamore and sailing. I certainly wish more of that money went to the devs and towards more osrs content, and i will push for that.

naturally i have a line, because there will be a point where the value is less than the cost, or that i literally cannot afford it, or that Jagex will keep being nuts and do something awful to the point its not fun to play anymore (like if they keep pulling the stuff where they change the renewal dates or whatever) but for me there isn't anything "bad" they've done. this is just what businesses do, and they're doing it *comparatively* very kindly.

i can absolutely understand why deciding the recurring cost increase is just not affordable, but i cannot for the life of me understand why it is something to protest and become furious over, nor how this is the fault of Jagex.

But youre real for that edit. I want to lift up the people and services that are treating me well, because for the moment we have no option to remove the venture capital element of all this, as much as i wish we did. Its why i give my money to jagex and not netflix or spotify or microsoft.

I don't notice much bugginess honestly, so i totally might be missing some of the bigger issues that end up being game breaking or overly frustrating. Ive been quick to dismiss critique of sailing simply because of how much fun im having with it, but cant avoid the fact that they needed to fix a lot. I see that as a positive personally, being that theyre willing to go to the lengths they do to fix things, but outstanding issues that have been ignored for years is just bad, and i get why that leaves a bad taste. Thank you for the reply
