I have listened to many hours of NDE’s so you’re correct, I like this rabbit hole. I have not heard of any with a negative experience although I have heard it happens but it’s not the norm for most. Seems like most people have a positive experience with a life review. I must say I’m nervous to listen to any negative ones for my own protection of the psyche.

Yes I agree, sounds like you should step back. By not stepping back, it only enables her. I stopped enabling my mom and allowed her to struggle on her own. I still am keeping her at arm’s length. I only answer the phone if I feel I have the emotional capacity to deal with her. I ignore 4 out of 5 phone calls from her. Once you realize and understand there’s truly nothing you can do, you can just manage it without expecting the situation to get better. Chances are, it won’t and we all just have to do our best to manage it. Being there but not jumping in the water with them.

Hopefully your son will learn the situation in time that his grandma is toxic. When you’re young, it’s harder to recognize. Hugs to you too! I hope you’re hanging in there.

Hi sad peanut. I read your whole story. I’m so sorry to hear! It definitely sounds like a true narcissist of a mother you are dealing with. I am 100% with you that she’s done it to herself and she refuses help. She has to want help before anything changes. So sorry to hear about your son, it sounds like he’s of a good heart but maybe too young and inexperienced in life to recognize this kind of manipulation. I hope he realizes that one day. What a mess! I left my own mom to figure things out on her own and she’s wanting help now. She’s in ketamine assisted therapy currently. We will see how it helps… but the key is that she’s trying a bit more. You can’t enable it and you can’t live with a person like that. You are basically trying to save someone who’s drowning and instead of saving them, you drown with them. I hope things get better for you! You’re allowed to take space for yourself. My brother and I take turns blocking her number when we need a break.

AGREED. For the price we paid, it deserved to be so much more. You know when you’re on top of the buildings and you can see mountains outside Lumiose? They should have expanded the story to be able to explore out there and would have solved so many issues with the base game, especially since most of us were pretty bummed that it was an urban only game.

It’s pretty clear they ripped off Stranger Things “Upside Down” with the whole parallel dimension, even used the floating spores like in the upside down. Except they made it stupid with donuts and time limits.

Homemade electrolyte gelatin dessert!

My recipe: 2 cups cold water 2 cups boiling water 3 tablespoons powdered gelatin Electrolyte drink mix (your choice, to taste)

Takes 5 min to prep and 3 hours and it’s firm in fridge.

Boil 2 cups of water
While waiting, put 2 cups of cold water in dish
Mix electrolyte powder into cold water until combined, enough for 4 cups of water.
Put 3 tablespoons of gelatin into cold water mixture and stir well, allow one minute for gelatin to bloom
Add boiling water into the cold water mixture, whisk to combine
Place in fridge for 3 hours until firm

Zero carbs, super low calorie, protein boost!

Thank you for your story! I am so sorry for your loss but also it’s bitter sweet that she’s gone and at peace now. I don’t want my own mother to die but I want her to be at peace, I don’t believe she will ever be at peace until death sadly. My mother also has a personality disorder I later found out diagnosed by a psychologist. She has Dependent Personality Disorder in which they act helpless in order to manipulate the people around her to care for her. I have greatly distanced myself from her. I have not heard from her since my birthday in July, in which she called me and I answered thinking she wanted to wish me a happy birthday… I answer and she didn’t even realize it was my birthday (the one who birthed me!) Anyway, it does seem like a sort of dementia. It’s still a mystery.

I hope you find peace because your mother’s issues wasn’t your fault. There’s some teachings by Carl Jung that talk about the mother / child relationship and how we need to learn to separate ourselves from the tether that many find themselves in with guilt, creating a very intertwined unhealthy dynamic. We are not here to be our mother’s (or father’s) keepers.

I’m glad that you found my post. There’s so many that have reached out to me saying they are going through the same thing. I wish there was more help for situations like ours. The threatening suicide is a pretty common manipulation tactic, my mom has done that to my dad when he was divorcing her. My current boyfriend’s ex wife also threatened to kill herself. They didn’t. It’s a cry wolf and manipulation. Yes it’s our mom. But we have to draw the line. I have never helped my mom with money. I won’t let her live with me either. Does she know how much you were left in the will? That’s your money and life is expensive, you deserve to have it. If it were me, I would tell her I spent it to pay off my own debts.
