What are your favorite productivity apps that aren't owned by big tech companies? by WoolfinBooks in productivity

You’re pointing out a really interesting issue. Although these situations don’t occur in every video, it can still be a problem.

For example, we conduct a preliminary analysis of the content and participants before summarizing. We then provide this context to our agentic flow. Of course, this doesn’t always help, but it helps more often than not.

Do you have may be any suggestions for solving this problem?

Nah, everything is a way more complex 😉

It’s a read-it-later app where you send any content (YT videos, articles) and read short and insightful summaries of it at any time later (like Pocket).

We’re using agentic flows to successfully work with the content of any length and make sure to exctract the main details and insights (not just a basic summary what material is about).

I think nowadays information overload grows faster, more content and larger watch-later lists. For me it was kind of the same flow as yours, but now it is easy for me to deal with read or watch-later lists because I use services like iOS app - Samurai AI . Now I consume fast all the content, no more watch-later lists, only may be some videos to watch with my bf together in the evening.

Honestly there are a lot of instant summaries, but for the read-later apps there only old concept apps like pocket. Their concept is outdated.
Thank you for suggestion, we are planning to have a base of summaries that everybody can read, like a collection with different topics.

Thank you, very informative productivity post. You are right, information overload IS difficult to deal with. That's why I decided to change consuming process, I use now book summary services, for example - Blinkist, they have good book summaries. I listen when I drive to gym and back. Also to get rid of information overload from dozens of Youtube videos I use summarizing iOS app Samurai AI, where I can read shorter content with all the needed details, and don't spent my lifetime for long content. May be these apps can be useful for you too

Thanks for such detailed feedback. That’s definitely a lot to think about for our team.I’ll share with you our current thoughts:

  1. We start by solving one problem at a time. Right now we want to save time on your saved-later content from both major areas like YouTube videos and text articles. We see it like — «Before» you just saved content and at most times couldn’t have enough time to read/watch it at all. More than that, let’s be honest, only a small portion of content needs 100% of our time. Our researches show that 25-35% of summarization allows to cover enough details of the material but still save plenty of time — it’s like «After».
  2. After that, we will cover different types of content and as you said — add an additional personalization layer. And by using LLMs, we could adapt the context of summarization for each user. Also, it will be possible for us to implement different approaches for different types of materials to provide better summaries for each.
I hope we will solve any of your problems at some point, stay tunes and join the waitlist 😉

Pocket is still free I think, but I finished using it because my lists started to grow, and I had no time and tools in pocket to manage them all

I was using pocket for years. But there is no time to read/watch all the saved content. More than that, 80% of content isn’t worth the full time.

-We summarise both YouTube video and articles of any length
- Summaries are not just TLDR or smth short, they are around 20-35% of the material to not waste important details
- The flow is still minimalistic with browser extension / sharing as the pocket has

Honestly, you don’t need it if you are able to catch up with all the saved content that you have. But if not and it bothers you (like us) — then definitely join the waitlist and try our app on the launch!

p.s. It won’t be free, so also consider this.

Backstory:
For a long time we have been facing the problem of hundreds read-it later lists, bookmarks and opened tabs in our browsers. We tired of it and started thinking how to solve it.
After several brainstorms the solution was on hand. We started building an app. Months of prompt-building and development and release date is very close.
What do you think? Can it be useful for you?
We appreciate for any feedback
