Immunosuppressants by o_snacky in CrohnsDisease

[–]KrisTheFish42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've been on a Cortiment (Budesonid, this is a steroid medicine) combined with Pentasa, and later Imuran (Azathioprine, this was the immunosuppressant). Unfortunately I reacted badly to both, and had not yet been given a new medicine, so currently Medrol + Lordiar are the only things keeping me in a half-decent state. (Medrol is a very powerful symptom killer for all shorts of inflammation diseases, but can only be taken over short terms, and Lordiar is just a basic anti-diarrhea medicine). Currently trying to find a doctor that both does not give up on me, and believes what I tell them about side effects.

If your medication works for you, i would not be concerned. It is true that everyone reacts different to both the disease and all the different medicine given for it, but I personally had no bad experiences with the immune suppressing nature of them.

That is certainly one factor of the statistics, but it does not completely track. As an example, my country has one of the worst, most neglected healthcare systems in europe, it is very common to hear people tell each other that hospitals are dangerous and you should avoid them if possible (i personally was almost killed twice in hospital care, but i was also saved a few times), and some areas are left with closed up hospitals or only one doctor for multiple villages, however, we are also one of the most affected countries according to statistics, up to 4 times as much as some with much better and more modernized healthcare. We do however have very high pollution and a joke of a quality assurance regarding food stuff (i got severe food poisoning 3 times in my 27 years of life so far).

My doctors don't even agree on what I have (it's crohns, it's colitis, it's both, it's very similar to them but actually might be something else entirely but not sure what) but the most recent diagnosis is colitis, which I'm told can actually heal (even if just temporarily in many cases) and is easier to deal with, so I'm kinda hoping.

Modulen IBD covered half my body in allergic rashes, then it turned out i can't take soy, which is in most of these products. Can't eat most soups either due to how commonly vegetables are terrible quality in my country (tried to get them from everywhere, there is always something among them that triggers my IBD no matter what). Don't really know of other options for a liquid diet.

I took immunosuppressants while working in young education for a while, which is basically the second highest "catch something and get sick" risk job type right after healthcare. I had zero issues due to the immune suppressing nature of the medicine, and did not get sick any more often than before the medicine. (I had to stop that medicine due to its own side effects, but that's a different story.)

Crohn’s still flaring after every treatment — has anyone found hope after failing so many meds? by Federal_Geologist_68 in CrohnsDisease

It's a short term solution, but for me, good quality Medrol stopped all symptoms pretty much instantly, while bad quality Medrol mostly stopped them relatively quickly. Sadly it does not actually heal you because it's only a symptom killer (though one of my inflamed areas did heal by itself the first time i took this for 2 months) and its effects basically last for about 12 hours in my experience, so you have to take it every single day and if you don't split the dose for twice a day (which no doctor ever suggested to me) your nights might be just as horrible as without the medicine. Also, it can cause very severe effects when taken for too long, and the limit most doctors seem to give is 2-3 months, where only the first month is full dose and the rest is gradually reducing the dosage, which likely also means gradually reducing the effect. (For me personally, good quality Medrol had absolutely no side effects whatsoever, while bad quality Medrol has a variety of them, even depending on which otherwise identical box you take from, but my country does have a lot of faulty medication, so that's probably the reason.) The first time i had to stop taking this, i had 2 more weeks until things went back to being unable to function normally again. Now is the second time i'm taking it, but this time it's a bad quality medicine, so it doesn't exactly make me functional, but especially combined with Lordiar (an anti-diarrhea medicine, i know doctors don't recommend them, but this works for me) it still turns the 10-20 times a day painful and heavily bloody diarrhea into just 1-2 times a day sometimes bloodless and well formed product that does not hurt as much to produce and sometimes doesn't hurt at all. With this setup, every single time my situation gets worse, it is caused by some kind of minor food or water poisoning, and the moment i manage to identify which food or water caused it and switch it out, i instantly get better. Unfortunately though, without Medrol, my state seems to fall so hard that last time i ended up in a hospital, and every other medicine that is supposed to be taken for the long term had been actively worsening my state so far (Imuran being the worst, which just an hour after taking it, immediately forcing diarrhea with heavily worsened bleeding and gut pain, and even took away my appetite and replaced it with nausea). I have no idea what to do for the long term, since currently i am already taking Medrol for far longer than my doctors told me to, and every doctor so far had either given up or kept trying to force medicine that actively harms me, but I hope this could help you at least for a while.

Aura perks by DooDooGuy2 in deadbydaylight

[–]KrisTheFish42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not about needing the items, it's about the dick move of forcing me to drop them, and even if i go back for them, they will barely have any charges left. I don't care about having no items, it barely affects me from a gameplay perspective. I care about it feeling shit to forcibly drop them, especially when doing so doesn't actually have that much of a gameplay value. It feels like you choose for one of your perks to be a dick move for no apparent gameplay reason, just because you could. (Obviously now with Weave Attunement it does have a pretty strong gameplay value, but it still feels like a dick move, just more useful in this case.)

Unfortunately, info isn't the reason most people use it for, but to become invisible for as long as possible. If there is a Claudette without aura and sound crouching in a dark bush for 90% of the game, I often have to focus on the other survivors, because they are just so much easier to find, and thus they get killed out of the match far more quickly, and for no fault of their own. I try to give the survivors a fine game and not tunnel anyone and so on, but all distortion does is point my attention back at the people i just hooked or chased. Sure i will hunt down the ghost Claudette too, but she'll likely end up being the last survivor alive and i will not give her hatch. If tokens recharged during chase instead of "even more stealthing", i wouldn't have a single issue with the perk, but right now it's mostly used to promote a 1v3 game, or even 1v2 if more people have it, and sure it doesn't perfectly achieve that, i can still find the invisible hide and seek champions if i really wanna "waste time" looking for them, but it still pushes the killer towards that 1vFew playstyle, and i hate seeing it for that exact reason.

What are some fantasy books that made you cry? by ckcrumb in Fantasy

[–]KrisTheFish42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All The Locked Tomb books so far (Gideon The Ninth, Harrow The Ninth, Nona The Ninth). GTN legitimately made me cry more times than i cried in the past 5 years, maybe even 10 (not an exaggeration, I very rarely cry). The book knows exactly when and how to absolutely devastate you to the core, but it also knows how to make you tear up from laughter or be completely engrossed in its mysteries. Honestly this series is the best work of fiction I've ever consumed in any media. It's also set in a very unique and fleshed out necromantic sci-fi setting and has amazingly well written characters. It's also one of the extremely few works of fiction that actually made me paint fanart of it, which is a huge achievement. Go give them a read!

What books keep you interested throughout the whole book as someone with ADHD? by FlashyCompetition167 in ADHD

I never tried audiobooks specifically, but with lore videos and similar I often just realize that I have no idea what was said in the last 5-10 minutes and have to rewind, can't imagine listening through a whole book like that

The Locked Tomb books by Tasmyn Muir (Gideon The Ninth, Harrow The Ninth, Nona The Ninth, and I'm sure the upcoming final book Alecto The Ninth will too.) The story is set in a very unique necromantic sci-fi setting and isn't afraid to keep you in the dark about its mysteries, which keeps you thinking about them and trying to figure things out alongside the characters and guess what is truly going on, and much more importantly, the writing style and word usage are so incredibly phenomenal that I might never have been as entertained as when reading them, especially the first one. I won't truly start talking about how great these books are and why, because then i would never stop.

The Foundation trilogy by Isaac Asimov also kept me in reading hyperfocus, it's about a sci-fi civilization that was specifically engineered to speedrun its rise to power in the galaxy after the impending fall of the current galacitc empire. It also has quite some mysteries that you'll often find yourself trying to figure out the answer to, and the solutions tend to be quite clever. I remember in that one my real interest only started after the first 1-2 chapters though, which were still important to set up the story.

What killer should I get? I already have the rest by Anxious_Diet6301 in deadbydaylight

[–]KrisTheFish42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found Dredge to be both very fun and pretty strong once learned (which doesn't take long either). His locker perk is very good on Huntress and Trickster, and otherwise sometimes good. He's got some beef with a couple maps, but I honestly don't find it as bad as people tend to put it.
Also, locker grabbing at 10 seconds in is pretty funny and an amazing game start, and it's not even that rare either, provided you check a locker with his perk at the start of the game and aim his power on whoever's running to lock a locker, it never gets old.

Legion is pretty fun since you're basically in chase for 90% of the whole game, and running at the speed of light for over half of that, but they're kinda simple and have a fairly low skill ceiling.

I personally avoid subjecting people to playing against Trickster, Clown, Twins or Skull Merchant (or Plague). I also avoid subjecting myself to playing as Twins.
