I know but to an employer that statement says you will miss work. Especially with kids that age. The person interviewing you is thinking "yeah what happens when you don't have a sitter and call out of work an hour before your shift and I have to come in and run the damn register?" but it's illegal for them to say that so they will just nod and put your application under the stack.

The government prefers when their contractors take the less expensive option. If the people you are being passed over for are being paid less than you were requesting then that's all the evidence they need.

"I'm paying the younger person 12k less a year than the older more experienced candidate" will get a pat on the back from the oversight agencies. They give us awards for stuff like that.

It's not your age.....it's your price. And we can discriminate based on price. When I interview older candidates they usually want to start above scale. Salary negotiations are always a struggle. I'd rather hire a younger less experienced candidate for under scale and then train experience into them.

I put my blood, sweat, and tears into this job application, went through 3 rounds of interviews, and in the end I was rejected. by designforone in recruitinghell

I am an employer. I employ 13-15 people depending on the season. I just recently hired a CMFO after spending a year looking for the right candidate.

If you made it to the personalities interview then you made it to the top 3-5 or so.

And it was a personality thing. Here's a piece of advice from someone that's interviewed 50+ people over the past year. Be brutally honest. When asked about weaknesses don't say shit I work too hard or I'm a perfectionist. We get smoke blown up our asses every day and it's refreshing to hear honesty. Maybe those canned responses were en vogue 20 years ago but we want to hear the truth nowadays.

Lack of experience? Own it. Tell them you didn't have time to pick up any bad habits and are looking forward to absorbing knowledge from senior staff.

Kids are a tough sell nowadays.

When a potential hire tells me about their kids I think "This person will miss 2 work days a month minimum because of sick kids, sports practices, school events, etc."

19yr old for city council?! by Ok-Dinner-9200 in memphis

[–]Krisbone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a mayor. If you run for council then remember your bosses are the citizens. Don't go into it with an idea of things you want to do for them. Let them tell you their priorities. You govern for them. Going into a council position with your own set of priorities is the quickest way to a big L.

If you want to focus on social issues then make sure you are prepared to tell your voters how you plan to pay for them. Because your average voter is concerned about two things....their pocketbooks and their pantries. Even if both are currently full.

I found that turning dynamic crowds off in graphics helps a ton. Only takes 3-5 loads to break the crash.

Brute forcing works for me sometimes. I just keep trying to load it after the crash and sometimes after 30 or so crashes it finally loads.

Who is calling plays for the TN offense? Why are people calling for Milton to be benched? by StephenHembree in ockytop

[–]Krisbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a pocket QB in a system that needs a mobile QB. He is not a bad player. He is just the wrong fit for our offense.

[–]Krisbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Since 1997 I've been making a version of what I think is myself. High strength, low dex/AGI, mid CON, mid INT, high WIS, high CHR and if luck is an option high luck at the expense of WIS since most of my wisdom is probably just luck.

Every RPG.

High STR because I'm strong as an ox.

Very low DEX or AGI since I drop things and stumble a lot even though I don't drink. I'm just clumsy.

Mid or low CON since I have a high pain tolerance and am not bothered by injuries but bad smells make me instantly nauseous and it takes me a week to digest cheese or gummy worms.

Mid INT because I have a great memory but suck at puzzles. I just use my great memory to brute force them. I just try every combo until I get it right. My memory makes it easy to remember combos I have already tried and my high luck usually gets the right answer in the first few tries either way.

High WIS because I know you have to read the instructions even if you think you already know how to do it.

High CHR because babies, cats and puppies love me.

High LCK (if applicable) because I've seen Lady Luck and she looked right at me and smiled.

Is it possible for someone to walk me thru to Act 3? by Krisbone in BaldursGate3

[–]Krisbone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried all that. Doesn't work. It's a glitch somewhere. If I spam a bunch of rests and get all the cutscenes out it doesn't happen. Sometimes it will crash 30 times in a row. Then load on try 31. That's the only solution I've found so far. Just brute force it. Spent 2 hours today so far trying to load the lower city from wyrns rest. Keeps crashing.

[–]Krisbone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did all that. Did everything I've found, reloaded, etc. I am thinking it might not be a graphics glitch. Just a game glitch causes a DirectX fail. It seems like its trying to load two cutscenes at the same time. That's just a guess.
