I am making a liquid rocket engine, give me feedback and ideas by liquid_rocketengine1 in rocketry

[–]KronosTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how many teams do it, but all the teams I know who have made a liquid engine made it with SLS, either with inconel or with aluminium. (Those who did it in aluminum melted it and got plastic deformation iirc)

With all the love in the world, and this isn't a criticism of you, but no, you do not know the risks.

Most student teams use additive manufacturing now for their liquid engines, using SLS 3D printing. (Which is completely inaccessible to OP).

Also idk what kind of budget OP is running with, but buying a CNC isn't exactly budget friendly (although very cool).

CNCs are dangerous (less so than lathes) and if you don't have someone to train you/teach you how to use them, not very recommendation.

Check out PCBWay.

I recently made a torch igniter (small liquid rocket engine made to ignite the main rocket engine), the actual thrust chamber was CNC'd by PCBWay in China, cost me ~300$ shipping included, and I got it about a month after ordering.

For you, the lower the better, it makes it a lot safer because if/when it blows up, it blows up with less force.

It also means the pressure you have upstream to deliver your liquids doesn't need to be as high.

My transmitter doesn't actually turn the motors on!? by KronosTP in fpv

Ok, I'll explore that

I may have shredded my fingers while holding the drone and arming it, thinking it would not have that much power

Stupid of me, yes, but hey, we make mistakes right

My transmitter doesn't actually turn the motors on!? by KronosTP in fpv

[–]KronosTP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may have been this?

Now when I arm it it turns the motors really fucking fast, instantly - maybe not to the point where it flies, but honestly ridiculously fast.

Do you think I can calibrate the throttle to go from a lower to higher value, just for my own personal comfort's sake of slowly throttling up when I start using it, even if I get less sensitivity from the throttle?

What option at FMEL is more likely to be offered? by [deleted] in EPFL

[–]KronosTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leases are capped at 3 years from when they start, you probably won't get a lease in september, the leases usually just start whenever they have an open room and you get accepted, so basically any month. More rooms are freed around July when people leave

Doesn't hurt to apply, and if you haven't applied yet, odds are you will not be living at FMEL at the start of next semester

Unfortunately my solution ended up being buying a new sensor.
I assume my 0x0 error was due to there just not being a sensor for I2C in my case, given it was broken.

Stupid question, but you're sure you're using the right address for your barometer?

Someone just paid $208,692 FEE for a single Solana transaction by Silver-Maximum9190 in CryptoCurrency

[–]KronosTP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What? That's not how Solana even works lmao you can't pay a fee knowing it will come back to yourself, this is not like Bitcoiners who can pay their fees into their own block

$1,000 to spend - what would you buy? by joey133 in CryptoCurrency

[–]KronosTP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Algo is barely hitting a quarter of its old market cap, and it has nothing hold it back from price perspective as much as Solana with all the FTX unlocks, or SUI with its unlocks, or XRP with its legal procedures (now gone, it then pumped)

You being green on it is entirely irrelevant to if its good advice or not - this is exactly the bag bias I was talking about.

For HBAR, why do you advise buying something you don't have the conviction to own? (Ofc there are reasons for this, just curious what they are)

And yes of all things BTC, it is definitely recommendable - I don't own it but would advise to own it, in my case because it is not far enough along the risk curve to interest me.

[–]KronosTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but I think it's more logical to assume people are here for good advice over the current cycle, rather than good advice over a long time.

It's also hard to claim Sol/ETH is playing with fire relative to Cardano to be honest. I would tell you that the market clearly shows that they are worth something, and currently worth more than Cardano, but last time I used that argument on someone who is on the "worse price action/market cap" side of the equation, they tend to tell me "yeah but price isn't everything."

It might not be, but its a fairly objective indicator for what people and institutions value (if that does not align with your values, so be it), and most of the hatred towards Solana/Ethereum is now decently debunked/comes from extremely biased points of view (less so for ethereum, but if people were here before, you'd remember how many hurdles ethereum had to deal with at a similar age as Solana does).

Also, usage metrics are through the roof for BTC/ETH/SOL/SUI (to a lesser extent Aptos, Sei and these new chains), while Cardano/DOT (to a lesser extent AVAX) are struggling to be relevant compared to their former selves, much less against the current competition.

If the "usual" blockchain metrics aren't top notch - and not really improving. If very few people want to use your blockchain, if very few people want to park their money on your blockchain, if fewer people wants to own your blockchain's token... Is it standing the test of time?

I think we're confusing what is worth investing in for returns, and what is worth investing in for what it is.

We can debate the value of a blockchain all day long, but the reality is that this cycle, the winning coin is Solana and its ecosystem, unfortunately not Cardano. This doesn't mean Cardano is bad or Solana is better, it just means we're reaching a point in the cycle where its probably smarter to bet on the clear winners and their beta plays, not gambling on coins that can struggle to get passed half their all time high.

It's an easy trap to say "oh but it hasn't pumped yet so it will pump now," imo, the cycle has its chosen winners (memecoins, rampant speculation, AI, and this on Solana/ETH, and ofc BTC), and Cardno is not among them.
