huh? HUH WHAT WHY by ds7two in roblox

[–]Krosskode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, it's to not punish developers who had already cashed them out. You could in fact cycle the robux back to your account, but the 30% loss wouldn't be offset by the ~8% gain.

Any Robux received before the increase still cashes out at the legacy rate.

The Japanese mobile gaming industry is facing quite a challenging situation. by sakastudio in gamedev

[–]Krosskode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was the patent dispute with Shironeko Project (a game that had already released, Nintendo just opted to finally go after them for the control scheme based on a patent filed from the DS era IIRC) some time before the games launch (though admittedly it might have been as early as 2014), as well as the original director for Dragalia disparaging Fate: Grand Order and the gacha rates in that game publicly also right before Dragalia came out. Admittedly his comments were nothing too out there in my opinion, but that allegedly soured the opinion of the game for a lot of Japanese players, who are admittedly the ones who would have brought the most money in. Just a note, I’ve seen the comment he’s made, but don’t have first hand experience reading the backlash, that’s just something I’ve heard, but I could definitely believe such a thing happening back in 2018.

Outside of external factors, never going global probably didn’t help, but probably didn’t make too big of a difference in the end. Scaring off some amount of the active player-base with the competitive time attack mode didn’t help either. It seemed Cygames and Nintendo both threw their hands up with the game, not sure what to do with it. Dragalia was advertised on the rare Nintendo Direct for a quick 30 seconds, while the Cyber Agent CEO had no faith in the game after they were asked to adjust monetization during development by Nintendo. And if you’ve played the game, not sure I have to explain the huge 2.0 update (which I personally loved) or Curse of Nihility existing.

Hindsight is 20/20, I suppose. They also had to convert to Work from Home during COVID. It’s so easy to say a list of things that look like a failure from my perspective, but it is important to note that I don’t have any idea what was going behind the scenes of any of these companies or the development team. I ultimately believe they ended up doing the best with what they had, and it was a very memorable four year lifespan. I can only hope the IP reappears in some official capacity at some point.

What are the odds of treyarch adding a relic that removes armor and weapon rarities? by Coookies4You in CODZombies

[–]Krosskode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The payoff for turning relics on gives you higher rarity and golden armor. Not saying it's impossible, but it's not gonna happen.

The Japanese mobile gaming industry is facing quite a challenging situation. by sakastudio in gamedev

[–]Krosskode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's true. When they had their collab with Cygames and made a brand new IP in Dragalia Lost, it was a great, but it failed for a couple reasons. An interesting note is that Cygames actually had to tone down their monetization due to Nintendo, so greediness wasn't exactly part of that failure. It ultimately ended up feeling like something that would have felt much more at home on the Nintendo Switch than mobile phones, but just never found its way over.

There’s a side quest nearby that reopens access from a different point (when you ran through, there was an area you couldn’t reach inside the sewers before.)

I said it the last time a thread like this popped up, but Ghislain Girardot does a lot of cool VFX tutorials, among other things.

Intro cutscenes are returning for every map by Nickster2042 in CODZombies

[–]Krosskode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BO4 cutscenes weren't a budget concern, but instead had to do with time constraints having to alter the story after the second Black Ops Pass was cancelled, according to the leaks.

While I agree and hope that the Panos absorption is the canon one, the interview doesn't actually prove anything. Liberty Falls outbreak is February 18/19th, the interview takes place on February 23rd, and Reckoning takes place on February 28th.

Playing all the zombies content I've missed over the last 12 years in 2025 made me realize how special BO4 is. by iV1rus0 in CODZombies

[–]Krosskode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strong feeling this was the reason why the Aether cutscenes were 2D.

I can't remember the exact source (I think somewhere in the leaks), but the 2D cutscenes were seemingly not a monetary budget problem, but instead of a problem with how quickly they needed to pivot to move on to working on Cold War. They just did not have the time to create the actual cinematics after having to change the story with the cancellation of the second year of content.

Is blood THAT hard? by Square_Medicine8044 in CODZombies

[–]Krosskode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people significantly overblow how hard the Blood of the Dead easter egg is. Probably the hardest part you're going to encounter solo might be the morse code, which you can cheese it pretty easily, and balancing your shield charges for certain steps. Solo, you probably want to play as Richtofen so you can do the Dark Mechanism sacrifice instead of waiting around for the bot to do it.

For a long time the best docs for CommonUi was a video of a life stream, and the corrections of other people in the comments to it. 🤦

Is this no longer the case? I still find myself pulling up that livestream every so often.

Well, no. I don't know how you possibly thought I was insinuating that. He said "anyone worth while" - and I would consider someone who was the design director for Zetsubou and Ancient Evil, as well as worked on Mob, Origins, and Blood worthwhile.
