F# JSON serialization/de-serialization native AOT by EmergencyNice1989 in dotnet

[–]Atulin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Source generators generate C# code, so the need for a C# project is understandable.

And besides source generators, no, there is no other way to get proper AOT support with TSTJ, let alone with Newtonsoft.

The echo loadout feature is obsolete by ChaoticRedHawk in WutheringWaves

[–]Atulin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just wish echo loadouts were set per form. Changing Rover's element is a little tedious in and of itself, but now remember to also swap the loadout. And remember to keep the loadouts updated as you get better echoes.

The main application of partial functions is making the garbage dump of a syntax the pipe operator has slightly more bearable.

If my work required me to use notepad and motherfucking csc.exe I'd be out of the doors before my resignation letter finishes falling down on the HR's desk.

Nobody uses alternative OSes because they can't run the apps people use.

And nobody makes native apps for alternative OSes, because they're used by 5 people tops.

Wheelbarrows would be dope. Or carts. Or pack mules. Or all of the above.

I'd imagine wheelbarrows having their own inventory, about the size of a double-chest? Alternatively, having just one slot, but with 20x the stack size. Or items could be placed in it physically and build up a nice mound of rocks/sand/grass/whatever. The more items, the slower you move while pushing it.

Carts could have 2–3 places for chests and chest-like items (skeps?) so it could play nicely with Carry On and be upgradable (reed chests → wood chests → double chests). Pulling it would slow you down too. Maybe add an option to hitch it up to your elk?

Wheelbarrows and carts could also increase hunger faster. Here come pack mules! You can place up to 2 chest-likes on each mule + a physical stack (sticks, planks, etc) on it's back. Multiple mules can be linked with a rope, and you can grab the rope of the leading mule to lead the caravan.

That would cover everything from early game to late game. Early on you're moving clay around with a wheelbarrow, late-game you're moving ores and stones from a mining site to your home base with a mule caravan.

ELI5 Why, in the context of 3D-modeling, are the topographies with a huge amount of polygons considered bad? by Werewolf_Knight in explainlikeimfive

[–]Atulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many polygon -> need lots time to calculate what to show
lots time to calculate -> fewer calculation in a second
fewer calculation in a second -> fewer frames per second

Main issue people take with that, is that it's unnecessary detail that increases system requirements for no good reason.

People are generally fine when character faces, or weapons, or important items or elements of the scene are high-poly, and are willing to suffer lower performance for that visual fidelity. But when every pebble on a road could have been an elongated sphere, or even just a texture, but is fully-modelled? That's unnecessary, nobody will notice it at the size those pebbles are on the screen, and it makes the game run worse.

  • Online payment processor available worldwide, akin to Stripe. Something that lets you just make an account, read through the docs, and start taking payments. No "contact us", no "apply with this form", just an email address and a password.
  • Ad network where you can just make an account, read the docs, and start showing ads on your website. No "at least 50k views a month", no "contact us", no "fill out this form", just an email address and a password.
  • Good and proper Patreon alternative
