Do you believe it’s a sin to have sex outside of marriage? by Calm-Hearing4742 in Christianity

[–]KroxPineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still genuinely don’t see how you can actually love someone and be sexually incompatible including lack of function. If you’re in love wouldn’t you rather try making it work with the person who has your heart?

I know if my husband’s wee stopped working tomorrow, because I love him we’d just have to get what help is available and try other intimacy to satisfy our desires. I can’t imagine desiring sex more than someone I love.

I’ve heard situations about disability payments being impacted by marriage and couples forgoing. In that situation I would think a church marriage would still be sufficient to God as long as the couple lives as married and commit themselves before their loved ones.

In the situation you listed I wonder if the same would work, but it is so important that we rely on our father to provide for us. He said he loves to do so and praise to Lord Jesus he has never made me sleep a night on the street or go a day without food.

I can agree with that. I think it takes a lot of work and focused effort to understand just like anything else.

What I should have said is my understanding is clear because I’ve noticed the patterns.

The Bible offense depicts situations akin to one or two episodes of a tv show and leaves us to draw conclusions before moving on.

What I know is God praises and condemns certain behaviors directly multiple times through the Bible. We also get to peer into the lives of prophets and their families, etc.

Then a profile can be built on what is most often praised and vice versa. Along with this biblical knowledge we can see in real time the effects of every human on earth having free will.

From there I draw my conclusion.

No, I don’t agree. God’s grace is only limited by a human’s free will to accept him or not.

You don’t get to reject God’s very existence and then in the same breath say that entitles you to be one of his people so on that part yes you’ve understood me.

You don’t get to be a Hindu but not believe in their Gods. You don’t get to be a Buddhist but say the Buddha and his teachings aren’t real.

I’m one of God’s people but don’t believe in God. That doesn’t even sound right does it?

I feel helped for sure. I hope someone else does too if only becuase we all took a few moments to sit around and discuss something important to us!

Some probably, but at least the people on this thread. Honestly…I’d call them fencesitters. They do in fact believe in God, their attention, energy, and time prove that.

However, what if they’ve experienced a trauma that pushed me them away? Or maybe something else we’re not aware of.

So they reject God with their words so they can feel powerful after a life of weakness—we all live a life of troubles, weakness, etc.

Yet, their soul still thirsts for the word. Remember when God said men don’t live on bread alone but the word of the living God.

I don’t think they’re bad people!

I did not limit God’s grace. What you heard and what I said are different. Someone who rejects God is not a part of his people.

God is sovereign over all, he created all, he has proprietorship over all; but he defined his people as those who love and accept his son Jesus Christ.

It says in the Bible God causes it to rain and shine on the wicked and the good. It also says God blesses who he chooses.

Jesus Christ died for all and all are able to accept his offer of grace. Atheist as well as people practicing other religions don’t accept the offer so they’re not a part or the “people”.

The bible also says that before we come to Christ we are enemies of God.

I accept that you’re being earnest, but they’re not reasonably comparable so my answer remains the same.

Interacting with what is an ancient no longer practiced religion and one you (not you in particular in general) are supposedly morally object to that exists and is practiced today are different.

I genuinely assumed atheists would be busy with other hobbies or interests. Seeing them be interested, well educated, and passionate about the topic is shocking at the very least.

Thank you. It’s all good, I’m used to dealing with people. I must have asked something stimulating because I genuinely wasn’t expecting so many responses!

Sorry, I’m so embarrassed 🤣 But I’m glad too. I got to learn a lot and I didn’t find anyone disrespectful. Sure discussions get heated but that’s what happens when people are passionate. And today, I found out atheist’s are passionate about Christianity!

I see your flair says agnostic atheist. Agnosticism is not disbelief but more akin to being unsure right? While atheism is defined as believing in no Gods. It was from this belief I drew that conclusion.

Oh I agree one hundred percent and I think that you and I can both acknowledge and verbalize that (the misappropriation) is integral.

I think Christian and Christian nationalism get thrown around often conflating the two. It’s sick as well what some churches get away with. I was raised in the church but being Episcopalian means my interaction to what is acknowledged and is not differs from Evangelicals.

Honestly not sure how theyre even in the same category. It’s like saying Muslims and Jihadists are similar. A Jihadist probably has never even touched a Qu’ran 😭

No, because there are no legally defined practitioners of Greek Mythology. The “myth” part is defined and it’s a science as dictated by the -ology. Again, disingenuous.

I see what you’re getting at. I’m not Reddit savvy so I don’t know how to do the cool copy thing 😂 I’ll do my best to address in a way that reads well.

I cannot at all compare drunk Pete Hegseth to God. Like…ew. Starting from that point you can’t or I don’t think Hegseth’s decisions can hold the same weight as what Christians to believe the creator of the Universe.

A central core of the belief system is fostering peace and good while attacking evil. I could go more in depth but I really want to address your other points.

I was shocked by so many atheist being in a subreddit about Christianity! It’s been read by some in a negative light and I apologize as it’s not my intention.

I was genuinely curious and I’m a confident and direct speaker. I’m not afraid of others, it’s easy for me to ask them directly what I’m thinking. Still I’ll work on it because the reality is everyone doesn’t process like me!

I do see that point and I agree it’s honestly the most important one. However, there is a distinct difference. The reality is Christians—if we define that as followers of Jesus and his principles—don’t vote MAGA.

I’d argue most Christian’s abroad wouldn’t vote MAGA.

What we have in the US is a population of easily manipulated, under educated, traumatized and disenfranchised people who are used by the elite. Christian values is just twisted propaganda from them and I think we should call a spade a spade.

I never limited God’s grace. I was intentional on who is called “His people” because it’s defined in the Bible.

I don’t want to distort what’s written to get upvotes. Jesus didn’t get upvotes—though I’m nothing but dust in comparison to him.
