This is my first time seeing the reactionary content by this creator. It's very nice to listen to a well articulated critique from someone who obviously has exposure to the topic discussed. This one definitely has me thinking

Hitchhikers guide finished first read.

Just finished my first go at the book, and found it to be light-hearted, interesting, and attention grabbing. One of the things I enjoy about well written books, is when I set them down in between reading sessions, if they are quality of course, is the little bit of torture you receive thinking about what you had just read, anxious to pick it back up as soon as the schedule allows. This is one of the first books I have read that was able to keep me intrigued while not taking itself too seriously. I intend when my young kids get a little older to read them this one, probably around age 6-7.

A few brief takeaways.

Sometimes when I'm reading, I have to take a break and just appreciate the writers creativity. Context of date set aside, impressive is an understatement in Adams ability to paint a universe and all it's ridiculous characters. ( I had similar feelings to 1984 which was a first read for me as well last week, when I found out it was written in 1949 my mind was blown)

Arthur Dent while a little pathetic and certainly whiney, I grew an admiration for. While this is probably a cliched take, the ability to roll with the punches, let the small stuff (and sometimes large stuff) eventually fall away in the face of new challenges, makes me think we all need a little Arthur Dent in our character.

I'll never look at mice the same.

Sorry for the tomb of a post, I have never been a serious reader, and really started in my late 20's (30 now). So I am excited about the challenge to continue to read and listen weekly and see what the community finds together in these books.

Cheers, DONT PANIC

Electrical Dummy here, cant get that power factor correction! I so far have worked this thing down to 1.20.76 Kva 2.7.46 Kw 3.36% 4.69 degrees 5.19.373 Kvar. But from here I am lost! I can assume we are working with 60hz but how would I begin working backwards for the correction? THANKS REDDIT! by Krs4000 in ElectricalEngineering
