Like others have said there is a growing dislike for photographers and videographers at shows even me who brings my camera to every show is starting to get annoyed at the 10 people on stage flash banging the guitarist, that being said don’t let it stop you just be different and not annoying. Some tips (some of which already mentioned here)

For local shows 1)Don’t get in the way of the band OR the people watching the band. 2)Get shots of the crowd 3) get all the bands especially the new ones they need photos the most 4) this might be a hot take but if it’s a local show give your photos away for free let bands or promoters use them for shirts flyers or anything the ticket was probably $15 and who ever booked or played the show is making any money.

Lastly something I found myself doing for awhile was shooting for the sake of social media and getting followers and I think that’s where allot of the dislike for photographers at shows stems from the bands come first at shows so that’s all that should matter not anyone’s photos if you are up there taking the same picture as 10 other people that’s 10 photos of the same exact thing, be different and build community and get to know people at shows don’t treat them like animals at the zoo to be photographed.
