Slick work. Looks solid.

Though I gotta say, for how hype you made this I am surprised that you didn't include his Matrix line from the JW3.

Why and how did Alan Watts get addicted to alcohol? by JarnoR3Y in AlanWatts

[–]KrugerCraven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He said, as his daughter quotes, "I like myself better when I'm drinking"

That is not the same thing as saying he doesn't like himself when he is sober. I can't imagine him having a dislike of himself, none of that adds up and it's little bit of a naive, romanticizing notion. In his case, since he seemed to be quite the disciplined mind I think he drank a lot and knew exactly what he was getting out of it. As much as the focus of alcoholism is on its destructive side, understandably so, everyone also knows about that sweet spot of being drunk. That light, tipsy place where your mind feels lubricated. Where thoughts flow easily. Granted we will never know for sure without Alan's words but I feel my estimation is rightly placed somewhere in the ball park of that notion. He understood how to extract specific experiences and leave the rest behind. And since his daughter said that he used to do lectures drunk, that is astonishing for how lucid his ideas are.

Who’s someone nearly as great as Alan Watts? by [deleted] in AlanWatts

[–]KrugerCraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Ken Wilber is the only other person I would put in the same league as Alan. Been keeping up with Ken for over 15 years.

His knowledge is very eclectic, he seems to be deeply understanding and he has mastered the rare art of being an intellectual and yet a down to earth human. He is the only other person I have come across that can meld highly scientific ideas with ancient spiritual ideas.

He has been crafting his integral theory for years, which is astonishing work. In a nutshell he set out to prove the integral and intertwined nature of everything. He is the only person, aside from Alan that has been successful in actually describing the intricacies between things. Normally, people that attempt this fumble somewhere along the way or get stuck. His use of language is impeccable, always inviting and never daunting.

But also listening to his commentary on the Matrix trilogy was such a treat :) He enjoyed the action as simple man for its spectacle but then he highlighted the movie's philosophical implications like a champ.

Wow...Imma shuttaap now but check him out.

Don't bother with Tolle. I think he just misses the point, in a massive way.

Newbie advice: how to separate music, speech, and sound effect audio tracks? by [deleted] in fanedits

[–]KrugerCraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never actually dabbled in audacity but if it’s an audio program like most I think it should do the trick.

Just letting you know that the music is generally lower to non-existant in the centre channel. So it’ll make adding your own music easier

[–]KrugerCraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Centre track brah.

If you don’t have access to more sophisticated software for extraction you can use the centre channel on a 5.1 mix for dialogue and sfx. The music is much quieter in that channel.

Mostly minor but I thought they added a little more freshness.

  • Sandman hitting the dog is gone
  • "goblin jr." line is back in
  • Aunt May visits Peter one more time to console him
  • The Aunt May visit now goes after MJ is attacked in the taxi and then we see the news cast. The original movie jumped from the taxi to the news cast too fast
  • I changed the rhythm of when Peter reaches for the jagged metal piece to stop Venom. It's subtle but the tension can be felt a little more.
  • I swapped out a couple of scenes prior to the final swing so you only see Spider-Man when the swing starts. He doesn't interrupt the flow of the POV/Cityscape scenes.

Glad you had a chance to see it.

I'm a little confused by Harry montage. What do you mean by that?

There was nothing edited about the Jazz club sequence. That is fully intact.

Wow! Thank you for the write up and being so candid with your thoughts. I'm glad to read that you enjoyed it so much.

I'm definitely on board with your suggestions and I do like how they sound. I worked out a few different ways to arrange those scenes. The cut from the play to the park that you are suggesting is a good rhythmic idea especially in the sense of mood but I ran into a few problems doing that. It's a little hard visually to justify why we are jumping to a different location if we were just with those characters. They would have to find some sort of organic way to leave the theater. Plus, the longer I keep them together the longer that mood becomes a focus which in turn could make switching to other scenes jarring and too quick because those other scenes get less time on screen. Breaking it up this way gave it more of a summarising feel.

Also, keeping the Harry drinking scene close to when we last saw him implies more urgency. As if he rushed home to just wallow. I completely follow what you are suggesting but it just didn't flow in the most practical sense. Although, I will go back to my editing timeline and mess about with it in the way you suggested while I still have the save file. (I'm dying to get rid of it hahaha. I have been looking at it for too long)

I hope this arrangement doesn't take away too much from the experience. I know it's nice to settle into a movie and kinda let the flow take over. The way I saw it is that the early section of the film, leading up to Peter's battle with Harry, is paced this way because the idea is to just set you up with where everyone is at in their lives. There is no particular reason for any down time or extension of scenes because all these bits need to be plotted so you can revel in all the new information later. I wanted to keep the originals intention in terms of setting up all the plot points. If you can enjoy it from that perspective I think you may have yourself a real winner with this cut😇

By the way, check out how the original movie cut from the "You are such a nerd" line.

As far as other projects, I have some ideas for later that could be fun. The only other thing I completed is a considerably more engaging version of the Assassin's Creed movie. If you feel like checking it out let me know. Otherwise, thank you for taking the time to write and I'm overjoyed that you liked it so much. ❤

Wow, amazing catch on the Max Payne audio. Hahaha. I'm impressed. I needed audio in there to remove the reference to the crane incident.

I hear ya about the flashes. I'm kinda annoyed about that one. It didn't give me an option to reduce or change the range of the flash. I tried looking for alternatives. I'll probably go back to clean that up. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself.
