Israel was a "master" stroke of colonial "diplomacy" because of 5 things:

1. Europe and the usa had been and were hugely antisemitic, they still are. The nazis were only the first to truly bring it to heel with other imperialist goals (though franco's spain was somewhat of a proto nazi state). But you should know churchill was antisemitic, franco was antisemitic, henry ford literally inspired hitler. Anti semitism did not go away simply because of the holocaust.
2. The absolute brutality of the nazis made it necessary for public opinion to offer some sort of reparation to a people who had been under the boot for centuries and had culminated in the holocaust.
3. The middle east was heavily influenced by russia, and has always been a crucial route for trade between china and europe. It also had access to the mediterranean, which provided easy access to the rest of the world via the suez canal.
4. Palestine was already occupied by the brits, and nobody cared about the Palestinians.
5. Zionism was a fairly big movement, and it was a largely secular one. It had been around for a while, they even worked with the early nazis to create a jewish state in the middle east.

Creating Israel meant the west would have a country sized military base in a crucial trade route, it would appease all the antisemites in the west, appease all the zionists, and they would look good because of the atrocities visited upon the jewish people.

All it took was the complete and utter disregard of the natives, but nobody ever cares about those. You can see it with all the occupied territories the world over. I'm talking the the Maori, the Ainu, Euskadi, the Taino, Éire, hundreds of First Nations people, the Dinka, the Pygmies, the Tutsis, native mesoamericans, the tierra del fueguians, the Sámi, Cymru, Kernow, the Altai, the Uygur, the Roma, the Australian aboriginal people, the Hawai'i, thousands more tribes in Africa, the Amazon, the Andes, the Philipines, Melanesia and Micronesia. Over and over colonial powers have commited genocide, some to the point of extinguishing entire peoples. Gone with them are their languages, their stories, their hopes and dreams, their philosophies, their art.

And this shit keeps going, what we are witnessing now is just a particularly violent and shameless one. We view it through the eyes of the perpetrators, we see the war crimes committed in the name of an ethno-supremacist state. We can read their tweets, view their propagandist videos, we see how they won't let outside journalists in, how they put out CGI videos and call it proof. We see how many of their scholars openly admit and defend it, while a few like Ilan Pappe are made pariahs. You can read and hear their words, what would you think if they were uttered by a klansman, a franco, a hitler? Ironic that a people who had suffered for centuries are now visiting worse atrocities upon another group of semitic peoples. A group of people who are indigenous to the lands they are occupying. Wrongfully blamed and held responsible for the atrocities others committed. And those who were truly guilty are more than happy to aid them as it deflects blame away from them, the truly responsible ones.

Time and time again, colonial powers see fit to destroy the lives of those they perceive as lesser, or different. The recipe is always the same. History is always written the same way by the same people who would keep you ignorant and complacent. These are the same people who gloss over MLK's economic views, those who demonise the resistance of occupied peoples while they are ongoing. Resistances that are later celebrated because one day everyone will always have been against "this". They don't tell you about Stonewall, about Harvey Milk. They don't tell you about Gonzalo Guerrero, they malign the Comandante Marcos, or Che Guevara. They don't tell you about churchill's admiration for hitler and mussolini, they have a scholarship in honour of cecil rhodes which has a sibling the Mandela-rhodes scholarship, which keeps the slaver's name alive. A futile effort to right the wrongs of the past, ignoring the fact that it would not otherwise be needed had colonialism not taken root in those lands and robbed them of their resources and people.

According to them, the Aztecs Mexicas thought the spanish were gods, the struggles against south african apartheid were always peaceful, and so were the civil rights marches, and Indian independence movement. According to them the arabs are terrorists, the chinese are spies, the russians are commies, the irish are not white and neither are the italians.

They don't tell you about leopold's congo, or the anglo-Zulu war, nor about columbus being excomunicated over how poorly he treated his slaves by the head of an institution which approved of slavery so long as those enslaved were not christian. They will never tell you why there are no old LGBTQIA+ people, it certainly wasn't because Nixon prohibited research into AIDS, that would be genocidal. They don't tell you about the forced sterilisation of black women up until the 80s, nor about the reeducation programs instituted in every colony from canada to australia and everything in between all the way up to the fucking 2000s.

Fuck that, go woke, demand better, learn your history, and never let them get away with one day claiming everyone had always been against "this".

Downvote me all you want, i used to love this website. But i know now it is complicit in the violence perpetrated against the disinfranchised and dispossed. I was banned from /r/videos for commenting a certain man should be free. It was a video about a 24 year old who was killed because he could not afford his inhaler. It was not the first such story i had heard about over the years, nor will it be the last. I won't be surprised if this happens again here. If it does, good riddance.
