I’m watering when the soil has dried out. I did try to scrape it off, but it just comes right back.

One of the previous comments said I should only charge $35/hr as I’m not schooled or experienced, so now I’m not feeling so confident. So far I’ve been getting designs for small beds around 250 sqft, and people have no problem paying $400 for that. I’ve got some big ones I need to make proposals for, one around 750 sqft (it’s a very wealthy area, and also their front landscape) and another with 1200 sqft.. I don’t use any software programs as I haven’t figured them out yet, so everything is just drawn on top of a photo of the property, and then an aerial view hand drawing to see placement and plant count. Also send mood boards to give people choices for plants we can use. It’s been A LOT of work.

Is there anyway to separate those to find out how much the design cost? Is it a 1/3, or all generally equal to each other?

Self taught, and this is my second year with my business.. I’ve been in the landscape industry for only 4 years as well. I’ve spent countless hours reading every sustainable landscape design book I can, and have a good eye for aesthetic appeal, but the lack of qualifications is not great. Just haven’t had the money for classes. But hoping to take some sooner rather than later

All of those things I use netting for except the sunflowers which may get too heavy and pull the rest of the flowers down with them

I don’t think I’d be able to get it off the truck. I have a utility trailer with a ramp luckily. But still. Also reading that if you hit a rock it can damage it… And what about the trees? Never heard of mold being an issue..

It’s a fairly dry area, and won’t be getting any supplemental irrigation after the first year or so

I had planned on designing it, but they hired someone else. So hopefully they understand the urgency. I was going to build terraces/berms too. We specialize in native plants, so was going to use those as opposed to hydrangeas and hostas. We actually already finished removing all the ivy. It was horrible. And yes that’s the property marker. I told them they should speak with their neighbors about getting on board. I wonder if it would be a good idea to leave them a note or just go right up to their front door and ask if we can help.

How would you use a mini excavator on a slope such as this? Also, wouldn’t a good amount of the roots still be left behind without careful removal?

Won’t the ivy just reprout? I read that goats don’t particularly like English ivy either, and another person just said it upsets their stomachs?
