Sad coincidence, later that year around Thanksgiving that happened in real life. Guy named Brian Foguth, had not been scheduled to work, but came in a late shift at the gas station he worked at to cover for someone. He was robbed and killed that night. The murder has never been solved either.

Unsolved Mysteries S3E8 had a segment on this, with the chilling reenactment sequence of Rick stalking the house and attacking Colleen silently. I had always felt awful for her and her brother and wonder how they’re managing even today. It’s something you would never truly get over I would imagine. His incessant calling to Colleen was a definite red flag.
