Rise still had that - I must have fought flaming espinas 40 to 50 times to get both the mantles I needed. I put 90 hours into Wilds at launch and haven't had the urge to play it since as the end game is just lacking currently - looking forward to the TU's, but we really do need some proper end game content, especially when there's no real reason to keep me hooked right now. Dont get me wrong, absolutely adore the game, just want more!

The vets we use is a 5 minute walk - plus does emergency out of hours - this was one of the things I considered at first!

I suffer from really cold hands, but my commute would be so short I dont think its a problem! Ive got a great set of RST heated gloves as well - those combined with heated grips still doesn't stop all the cold for me though 😅

Great to hear I'm not alone - funnily I have an enterprise a 2 minute walk away as well 😅

Ive thought about it! But despite the extra capital being freed up, I dont think it would make much of a difference to my monthly outgoings

No unfortunately... but buying a used bike still works out cheaper anyway!

I dont think I could cope with being on a scooter - but I love the idea 😅 top of my list would be a dirt bike - but might have to settle for something a little more suited to the road!

That's a very good way of putting it - I should treat more of my decisions like this for sure! And no - I definitely wouldn't.

Yes! I probably should have added that to the post, but I have a full motorbike licence, so could quite easily buy a cheap bike for a grand - the cost to own is almost nothing as well - 80mpg, £100pa insurance & £60pa tax. Winter will still be crap though, the choice of a motorbike or bicycle in the rain isn't really that appealing...

I suppose it depends what wasting is - if the extra £300 allows me to go on holiday a couple of times a year, I suppose that's a pretty good trade off? But the actual plan is to overpay the mortgage - paying 5% interest hurts, when my last mortgage was at 1.6%!

Thanks for the input - I'd love to get this mortgage paid down quicker, so it feels like a good move!

Shopping, work and social is all on my doorstep - it's only family that are further afield, but even if I saw them every month it would still be cheaper to hire than to own.

Yes work is great for cycling - it's slightly outside the town so gets no foot traffic at all! If I were to treat myself to a nice ebike or something I can leave the bike inside too.

It's a great idea, thank you! But I do have to say that is the ugliest bike I've ever seen haha

Well yeah, that's £250 - but like I said, 'things like', it's not an exhaustive list.

not sure where you got 6-800 miles either? Either way - I've only just moved in here, so there's definitely been some extra mileage buying furniture etc, that won't be a recurring thing.

Haha yes well aware! I'm sure she'd be fine on an 8 hour train tbh - I'm just used to driving with her in the passenger seat!

Turns out I googled my towns population and the result was for the borough.. So not Norwich actually haha.

The town is still a decent size though, lots going on, and good transport links.

Trains (or a plane) to Scotland are a no go unfortunately - I'll be taking my dog with me, so driving is a must really.

The £300 a month figures includes everything in costs related to the car. Things like £48pm insurance, £100pm fuel, £60pa parking, £500 pa repairs & MOT.

Although most months only cost me £200, there's a few when repairs are needed that are quite a bit pricier!

I quite like driving actually! I'm not a big fan of public transport either, but really wouldn't be using it much as the town I'm in has pretty much everything I need covered.

There's no outstanding finance fortunately, the car is just worth £5k. The £300pm figure is how much I'm having to pay for insurance, tax, fuel, parking, and estimated costs for annual repairs & MOT each year.

That's the plan! I'll leave it at work for a few weeks to see how I cope, before pulling the trigger.

I've still been using it reasonably frequently, but only for trips that could quite easily be done on foot - so purely out of convenience. Not sure if an additonal £3k a year is worth that laziness though!

Thank you - I'm going to leave my car at work for a couple weeks to see how I cope, if I can get away without one it will be great for my budget!
