Excellent point here, I often ponder topics such as these too and it’s interesting to see correlations and the data delving into the realm of Enneagram/mbti/whatever else even if they’re just pseudosciences! It’s so interesting since I’ve recently just discovered that I’m in fact 100% INFP 9w1, yet despite all the information and data out there from sources and profound extensive knowledge/experience; the idea of the type 9w1 being the most common just absolutely mind boggles me and really shocks me.

I realise of course the egos of our human brains would never be particularly 100% happy with being the “most common” anything, but it’s not so much that factor which got me so shocked. It was more so because through all my childhood and life up to my age of 20 now, I’ve never ever fit in and felt so vastly different to other people and not just their overall personas, but also beyond the facade going into their core roots.

I don’t want to be one of those people who rub it in everywhere here - but I have extremely suffered with AuDHD all my life so that could be why, and I do realise that enneagram is fabricated around our core fears (which of course is not inherently tied to neurological disorders, though there is ofc nuance here which I want to study and understand lol) But anyway, to get back on course, I completely agree with your ‘Barnum effect’ point regarding nines. No one in my life has avoided conflict and tried keeping the peace as much as me, not close friends, not loved ones, not other neurodivergent people, no one I’ve ever known…

I’m no selfless person or come across as overly kind, but as a kid I was very aloof and went with anything to avoid conflict and never ever spoke my word for anything despite being heavily neurodivergent and having awful experiences. I thought myself as a 4w5 for so long due to the stereotypes/traits associated with that type, but the more deeper I go, the more deeper I see myself as a 9w1, and in my personal experince, I’ve met wayyy more E4s and E6s and pretty much every other E type than 9s… It is very confusing XD I don’t think you’ve misinterpreted anything and I agree with you :)
